A dream i had last night

Just a non lucid dream i had last night i thought i should share with you guys since i am trying to get better at dream recal and im abeginer at the lucid dream stuff.

When i was a kid i had a german shepherd dog named Jake. He was a very stupid dog but i loved him. He ran away when i was 13 years old during the fourth of july. The fireworks scared the living hell out of him so he hopped the fence and bolted while we werent at the house. And never came back. This dog was practacly a part of the family. He was like a best friend, well opposed to my human best friend of course.

In my dream i recall that my mother had found Jake somewhere in fort Lauderdale. Jake had ran away when i had lived in Ohio which had been five years ago. And jake was 10 years old when he ran away and most likely surely dead by now because of the short life span's dogs have. I found that that was unusual but it wasn't strange enough to knock some sense into me and trigger a lucid dream. In the dream jake was playful, stupid, and loyal exactly as i had remembered he was.

I remember being in some sort of field or forest. I was not too sure where i was, or i wasn't too aware because i wasn't lucid. I was sitting on a lawn chair and Jake started bugging me. He was begging for attention just as i would remember. So i pet him, scratched him behind the ears and gave him a belly rub. Just like any dog would like.

I can remember a passage of time. An hour must have gone by in that field or forest or whatever. I was suddenly in my mothers room and asked her. "Hey mom. Wheres jake at?" She looked at me with an odd look of confusion on her face. "Aidan. Jake ran away five years ago." As if i imagined the whole thing. After this i had realized that i was dreaming. But instead of going lucid i woke up with no recal of the dream.

I had soon remembered most of the details from that odd hazy dream after my commute to my college. I think that jake appearing was a sort of a failed really check. I went to bed with the intention of going lucid. i thought to myself over and over that i am going to go lucid.. Jake appearing must have been my subconscious saying " hey dude your dreaming." But it failed because i really wanted to beleive that the dog was still alive and somehow had wandered accross the entire country just to find me.

So yeah. I found it kind of interesing and thought i should share it. Im syre next time it happens i should pick up on it and realize its a dream.
