You are more likely to remember 'morning' dreams, because that's when your REM cycle is longest. REM is when you dream.
Tips for dreams in general: A night time routine is a must. Try and go to bed the same time every night, get up the same time every morning. Try not to eat a big heavy meal last thing at night, a small snack is okay.
Also, try to avoid stress in your daily life, if you are worrying about something, before you go to sleep, this can inhibit recall.
I usually write in a diary before i go to sleep, so that my head is clear.
Late nights. They don't help either.
