Hello...I might have some problems...

Hello. I started my adventure with lucid dreams about a year ago. So far, I've never had even one...Well, not a properly working one. However, I think I have some severe problems, such as...

- High functioning Asperger's. I'm afraid that because of my different brain structure, I may be unable to have lucid dreams, but apparently some people have it and are able to have them.

- While I can remember my dreams quite well, I never have my real memories...at least in dreams where I'm not blind. I never have control, it's like "I", but not me, is making each decision. Dreamworlds are realistic but not detailed.

Every time I try to enter a LD state (Possible only accidentaly in the morning after waking up from a not-LD, FILD is impossible to perform for me) it ends with a "Blind Dream" which I believe is a reversed sleep paralysis. When it begins, I can hear an increasingly loud tinnitus, and then I'm in control of my body, but I can't determine whether it's my dream or real body. I can't see anything, and methods such as opening eyelids don't work. I can't even create a world. While in such dream, I have access to my full memory, but it's useless, there's nothing but a dark void. By moving my body hard enough, I can exit this dream at will.

So this is my story so far. Can anyone tell me what that weird dream is (Paralysis or something else?) and why I have it? I hope that I will have a nice time here :)

As you describe it, your FILD was successful, and you were LD'ing... trouble was, there was no dream there in which to be lucid:

It sounds to me like you have indeed become lucid, but you started your LD during a period of NREM, so your dreaming mind was not yet in gear to provide you with imagery, yet. If you can, you might try to stay in this Blind Dream as long as you can. While doing so, stay calm and try to think about your upcoming dream. In time, you might find your dream forming as you finally enter a REM period and your dreaming mind spools up once more.

Also, you might consider doing a WBTB in the mornings before attempting your WILD (as you probably already know, FILD is a technique for WILD). You might just need to put some time between your initial wake-up and your WILD attempt, so that you have a better chance of catching your next REM period.

Finally, a couple of small things: As far as I know, Asperger's should not keep you from LD'ing -- though you may have already proven that! Also, during actual SP (which is quite rare, BTW), you cannot move your body at all, so you would not have been able to exit the dream at will if you were in SP ... and that's just fine, because SP is not integral to LD'ing at all, so it is not something to look for or care about. You were likely simply experiencing some REM Atonia, which is the state of gentle paralysis that your body goes into every time you go to sleep in order to keep you from acting out your dream activity with your physical body.

I trully hope that you indeed are able to lucid dream and I think that Sageous is right. You did enter lucid state, but dream was not available yet.

We have something called reality checks - RCs. These are to check if we are asleep or awake. During day time, you can do any of them. But when you think you might be asleep, you might wanna do a motionless one. Simply think to yourself to levitate our body upwards, just give yourself a mental command to "up" and imagine your body floating up. If you are still awake, nothing will happen and you will not interrupt your WILDing process. But if you are already asleep and lucid (even if you are 100% sure that you are not), your dream body will move and you will know for sure. Please do ask if you have any more questions.
