Waking yourself on purpose
Hi,
Had only the second and most extraordinary LD of my life recently. Promted me to get online and find out more about this. I recently found that SP is a real symptom and not just me being mental or something. I have frequent cases of SP, often quite distressing, but since i found out more about it i try to just ride it out.
Anyway, never knew about the connection between the two, very interesting
My Question to you regards waking up from Lucid dreams. This morning in the midst of a LD i heard my house phone ringing in the background. It was a call i was expecting, and i knew this while dreaming. I tried waking myself up by jumping in front of oncoming traffic! -didn't work. I woke when the person called my mobile next to me, and confirmed they had been ringing my house phone for ages.
How can I wake myself up???
Cheers

Hello there jaws104, & welcome to the forum!
Great work on conquering your fear of SP!! Keep it up!!
I wouldn't try to wake up from one, unless I really had to. I wouldn't even answer the phone yesterday afternoon, while I was napping!! :D To wake yourself up, yell for yourself to wake up, & try to imagine yourself in bed. Most of the time, it works, but you could end up in a FA!!
Try it though!!
SUGGESTIONS FOR WAKING YOURSELF UP
Things that have worked for me in the past; when I am LD'ing and may not like the way things are going, or I want to repeat a scene that was fun, pleasurable,or interesting, I give a command; e.g. 'stop', 'repeat/rewind', or my favorite to do, 'switch scene'. It always works for me. It extends the dream or allows multiple themes within the dream. I think it and it becomes so. If, while LD'ing, I become aware of a physical stimulus affecting my body in reality, I simply command, 'wake up' and I'm awake. Relax and go with the flow. Your brain wants to help you. Think it and it will happen. Enjoy the movie!!! We'll talk later.
