I listen to relaxing, downbeat music to help me fall asleep at night, but I set it on a sleep timer so it doesn't stay on all night (or it will eventually end up waking me up), so I can't really say if it has any effect on dreams or whatever. I imagine it probably varies from person to person... for example, a light sleeper like myself might be a little more conscious of the outside world while they sleep, and may be able to incorporate ambient noises or music into their dreams, whereas my roommate, who wouldn't be awaked by a bomb going off next to him, would probably be completely unconscious of the music. I don't know this from experience, however; these are just my thoughts.
Was that what you were asking?
Not me -- I prefer silence when trying to sleep. In fact, I usually wear foam earplugs to bed.
thats what i was asking. Because before discovering LD i would listen to classic/hard rock every night before falling asleep. It wouldnt be very loud but i could still hear it and i would have the sleep timer on so that it went off after an hour. Now that i am trying to LD however, i dont want to listen to music if it is going to lower my chances of haveing an LD. Also, i often hear about relaxing yourself before u fall asleep. And i am pretty sure that listening to hard rock wont help me relax. lol. Thanks for all of ur help!
I sleep with earplugs too. I have tried some music, bwgen, hypnotic.... etc. With music, it wakes me up eventually. BWGEN keeps my mind racing and I can't sleep. Hypnotic mp3 puts me to sleep, but I don't ever remember my dreams.
So far my best results are total silence with earplugs.
