Newbie with some questions.

I'm new to the board. My name is Mike and im from PA. I've been experimenting with lucid dreams. I've been trying to have them for a few months.

Latley I have been using an Astral Induction track with binaural beats. I ususally listen thru the whole track without falling asleep. I usually just feel completley relaxed with a quiet mind. Afterwards I take the headphones off, roll over and go to sleep.

After i'm asleep my mind wakes up but my body is paralized. I read that its probably Sleep Paralysis. My mind wakes up and my eyes can open but I cant even make a sound or move a muscle. This only happens when I listen to the binaural tracks.

Theres something different I can do thats not the same as sleep parylisis. After I wake and can move and function normally I have the power of closing my eyes and feeling myself go back into that paralyzed mode. If I feel it coming on I can snap myself out of it. It happend about 5 times last night. I'f like to be able to fall into it but I want to have good dreams not a nightmare.

So, are you saying that your sleep paralysis makes you nervous and hence you think it will induce nightmares? If you could rephrase your question, that would be great!

I've had episodes of awareness during sleep paralysis all my life. I might have them every night for a week or two, and then have none for months or even a year. I think whatever chemical imbalance triggers it runs in families because my brother and a couple of my cousins said they've had it. It's always unpleasant for me and even though I know I might have a lucid dream if I ride it out, I usually fight my way back to full consciousness. But the few times I rode it out, I found I was in a lucid dream and it wasn't a nightmare. I don't think sleep paralysis necessarily means a nightmare will follow, no matter how bad the SP episode itself is.

First off welcome to the forum, its good to see you asking questions already, i'll give my best shot at trying to help you out.

I think you have progressed alot so far, its obvious that you would like to fall back into your dream, but the thing you really need to take into account is that things aren't always going to be bad, i think that when you drift back in you should just remind yourself it is all a creation of your mind. Let yourself go, slip into this reality, if you fall into a nightmare, so what, its better for you, your emotions will be higher and you will be more aware and it'll enable you to conquer the nightmare with the power of Lucidity!! But you can become lucid so easily, things seem more clear and vivid in nightmares and you will be able to tackle these things. Just try and try and assure yourself that your in safe hands and ready to take on whatever your head has to throw at you. Chances are you will have a normal dream, but don't worry about it, be calm, positive and try your best!

No. im not really saying they make me nervous. I just never heard or read of anyone being able to control going in and out of one.


After listening to the track last night I took the headphones off and rolled over and fell asleep in what felt like minutes. I then woke up laying in my bed. My mind was awake but my body was non-functional. Now afterwards almost as soon as I close my eyes I feel myself leaving again. I let myself go in one more time and nothing happend except me fighting to move again. For about 3 more times I would close my eyes and feel myself drifting in and I would quickly back away from it. I then stayed awake for 10 minutes, went to bed and woke up at 11am.

Now, this is not genetic or anything. I never had these until I started trying to have lucid dreams. It only happens on some night when I listen to this track.
