This is a question that I think I know the answer to, I just need some confirmation. Is it possible to lucid dream, or dream in general when you go to bed at night? Or does it only happen during the REM phase? I'm wondering this because I'd like to know what would happen if I tried to WILD when I went to bed at night. If I managed to get into SP, would a dream start? Or would I just be frozen while conscious?

Usually it takes over an hour to reach the inital REM periods, where you dream. If you tried to WILD when going to bed for the first time, you'd have to stay conscious through the deep sleep phases leading up to the first REM period, which isn't easy considering the duration of those phases.
Many people can get into SP from the beginning, but it's much harder to get into a dream from there. Sleeping 5-6 hours first does wonders for WILDing.

From my experience, it is possible to WILD when you go to bed for the night. It just isn't worth it. The dreams i had were dark and very low control, sluggish. Better to get the 5+ hours of sleep first and then try to have a WILD.

Anyway, my first WILD was when I laid down at night to go to sleep. I didn't have to wait hours or anything to get in the REM cycle, it just happened pretty quickly. I could feel myself halfway asleep , and I had the choice of waking myself up, or going into a dream, so I went for it. I literally fell asleep, like when I chose to go into the dream I was falling. Nah, I've not done it, too much work to plan out, and I hate my alarm. Ontop of that, I'll have to change bedrooms and change the sheets and everything because my dad will wake up when he hears me walking around the house, my room is right next door to his you see.
And ontop of that, I find it hard going into sleep paralysis. And ontop of that. I find it hard keeping my eyes closed, I could go on....
ahh, I don't know why, but whenever I WILD I don't try. I just know when I will be able to. It's sort of a state of mind, I'll notice it when I close my eyes before I go to sleep, I get a lot of hypnagogic imagery.Quote:

I wish. Theres some people here I think that can do it way more often than me. I also don't have very good control or recall, so I am far from an expert. And they just randomly occur, I have to wait for them to happen, which gets frustrating sometimes because I wish I could have more.Quote:

Yes you can do it fro mthe beggining of sleep. But it's just like trying to cut a stump using paper: pretty hard. I've only managed to get to SP from beggining of sleep, never a dream.
But without doubt some superior midn would be able to do it :) I myself really prefer trying techs in the morning when I can oversleep. It works as bingo for me.
