Breaking the Habit
I'm having constant dreams where I'll wake up in the bed that I fall asleep in; I wind up looking around my room and seeing shadowy growling figures lurking slowly towards me, most of them look like wolves. I quickly realize I'm dreaming every time yet I still remain immobile and stunned in fear. Since I realize that I am in fact dreaming, I hear it would be an LD. Once the creatures get close enough they lunge at me with their mouths wide open, I proceed with smothering myself in my blankets and immediately waking up in a cold sweat.
Is there any way to break out of this cycle? I have this dream 2-3 times a week (I nap allot), it's got me a little afraid to fall asleep again.

Hey, I'm by far no expert. But I have heard of this a lot before. People have this problem a lot when sleeping - sometimes with images of old witches, sometimes with just dark shadows. You have a very classic symptom of it.
The first thing to do is to always remind yourself that it is just a dream. In fact, you have a great opportunity for lucidity. Still, I know its easier said than done. There are a lot of techniques to deal with this. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get a lot more advice from experienced people.

my advice would be that you should confront this dream head on. when these shadowy figures appear close your dream eyes and think what it would be to have a revolver with silver bullets in your hand (wereWolves right?) chase the WereWolves away but not kill them if you are a paficist. I hope this helps.
regards.

Have you read up on sleep paralysis, yet? It sounds like you may be experiencing classic symptoms. I get it all the time, too. You can use it to enter a lucid dream. Just relax, stay calm, and try to fall back asleep. Don't struggle to wake up. That will only make you panic.
If you absolutely must wake up from it, try wiggling your toes. That seems to work for a lot of people, me included.

I've read a shortened article on it, but the link is appreciated, I needed an in-depth version to help me out.
But I usually try a more violent way of waking up, some times driving my body into the wall beside me or kicking my legs viciously. I'm still quite young and restless so I find calm dream closure as quite a challenge.
