my dream recall is absolutely horrid
Hey all. I've been reading some of these threads where people are talking about how they have bad dream recall because they're "only" remembering 1-2 dreams per night. I started almost a week ago and I've only been able to remember ONE dream. I'm really not sure why this is, but after reading some threads I'm starting to think it's because I smoke so much weed. I smoke multiple times a day and I almost always go to bed high and I'm beginning to suspect this is hurting my dream recall ability. Either that or I just suck at dream recall. I don't think I should be having this much trouble with dream recall since I clearly remember periods in my life where I'd dream multiple times a day. Either way, I'm going to continue practicing all this stuff and reading about it every night and I'll give it every night for a couple of months. Out of curiosity though, has anyone else with recall this bad (one out of six days) actually managed to get to the stage where they can LD/have good recall? Seems like everyone starts off and immediately has multiple dream recalls per night. Any other tips would be appreciated as well.
Pot No Help; Maybe This Will...
Hello I would confirm that smoking weed will do that, and may suppress dream recall BIG-time, dependent on various factors, like your personal chemistry and how heavy the use, et. al.
NOTE: A book that I use regularly for my dream-work and is great is by expert Jeremy Taylor, called "Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill." He says, based on over 20 years experience, that "mind-altering substances, particularly alcohol, marijuana, and various coco derivatives, in even moderate doses... will make it difficult, if not impossible, to remember dreams." So there we have it, and I have found all of his insightful observations to be very true.
However, I would also add that personal factor. You see, I focus intently on the process which helps facilitate dream recall and still sometimes find difficulty, and even my own success in this proves relatively quite limited. But I DO know it is important to not give up hope. On the other hand, compare that with my good friend who is a total pot-head, smokes everyday and regularly recalls extended dreams in spite of this. So there are different factors which you CAN pull to your advantage, but smoking pot, especially going to bed baked, in my studies and experience, will NOT help. Sorry but apparently some of us need to narrow our goal; either pot or dream-work. It's hard to do both.
Hope this helps! :D
