Hey aodimp, don't fret :) WILD is probably the hardest technique to learn/master, first off. Secondly, a simple mantra might work for you with dream recall... I tell myself "I will remember my dreams" when I'm having troubles remembering stuff, and it seems to work. I repeat it over and over until I fall asleep.
After trying a few techniques, I have chosen DILD. I can't WILD to save my life, and it's too frustrating for me to learn. Anyways, one doesn't need to WILD to have a LD every night. Naiya has LDs a few times a night, and she uses DILD more than WILD (to my knowledge... her DILD count vastly out numbers her WILD count, anyways :) ). I'm working up to about 1 week, myself.
The thing to remember, with any technique you choose, is to relax. Most people here find that the more you try to force a LD, the less likely they are to have one (myself included in that statement!).
All it really takes is diligent practice with one chosen technique (it's really important to stick to one - at least, it is for me). Keep up with it every night. Be consistent. You
will eventually have a LD. :)
Edit: Just wanted to post, that Naiya's guide is what I've been using. I went from having LDs a few times a year to having one at least once a week by using
her guide.
Specifically, I do the visualization DILD at night, and I consistently RC throughout my day. I try to work on overall day-long awareness.
