plz help i am new and frightened of whats happening

i really hope someone can help me as i don't know much about lucid dreaming at all but from what i have read here and on other sites i may be experiencing WILD or OOBE. my experience is i am paralised in my sleep but i know i am not really asleep as i am aware of what is going on around the room, its so scary sometimes! it feels as if i am being lifted up out of bed and spinning around the room and i think i am going to die or never wake up and other times i am aware of people in the room or walking around me-even touching me. or i can hear voices murmers and even music!! but i can't shout for help or move at all.

I don't understand what exactly has been happening or why it but i have come to the stage in my life where i want answers as i can't live with the fear of it happening everytime i goto sleep because it happens so frequently and nearly everytime i sleep, the worst thing is now i just want it to stop because i have a baby and i am scared that when she is crying i won't be able to wake up . please can someone help i am constantly battling this( for years and years now) but its only now i need help

It's just sleep paralysis. It happens every night when you go to sleep, only most of the time your not conscious to experience it. It comes with hallucination (all kinds, like visual, auditory and hallucinated touches and so on). It's not dangerous on it's own. To stop it try to relax and breathe deeply.
Although it could signify something else. If you often get sleepy during the day, then I would suggest seeing a doctor to test if you have narcolepsy, because frequent conscious sleep paralysis is a symptom of it.

Most importantly, there is nothing to be afraid of. This is both a natural and normal phenomenon. The body actually does this every night, to keep itself paralyzed so that we do not act out our dreams. The problem comes when people wake up in the middle of it. It can be really scary (because really, who wants to wake up in the middle of the night and be paralyzed in their own body??), but if you realize what it is and stay calm, you can "float" your way through it, and it can actually be a very pleasurable experience. The reason people see, hear or feel people in the room with them is because this happens at a period where you're just on the cusp of dreaming (or coming out of it, whichever your case) so, you're having hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations. Fear/anxiety makes these worse. So, when you wake up and find yourself paralyzed in your bed, and you freak out, your mind is going to create all kinds of hallucinations that will play off of that fear/anxiety.

The best thing you can do is not to panic. Relax. Let your body remain numb. Float your way through the paralysis and either wait until it wears off, or just let yourself relax enough to fall back asleep. You'll be fine. :content:

hi emkinator and oneironaut thankyou both so much i feel so relieved that i am not the onlyone who has experienced it! i will try both of your advice and see if it helps and also see my doc as i do get tired during the day (although it could just be cos baby is wearing me out :-) feel much better though thanks for helping and being so lovely x
