In all reality, there are better programs out there. This one is familiar to me and seems to do about all I need it to for now. I also like the youtube support, but that's just me. Probably not great if you're a serious music producer, but for someone just goofing around and winging it, it works nice.
acid 7.0 is alright, it doesn't come with much though
You said people should create their own music instead of bitching about how music isn't what it once was. I pointed out the problem with that. I would be surprised if anybody here has the musical talent of Lennon, Hendrix, or Page. Even if somebody here does, not all of us do. Do you agree?
I do listen to albums. Good albums, and nothing like the stuff I assume you listen to. I have music on my iPod that only a handful of people in the world even know exist. I have gobs and gobs of good music. I know it's out there, and I know it exists. That doesn't change the fact that junk is popular, and that saddens me.Quote:

I certainly hope you're right.Quote:

I don't know much about him, but a quick Google search, and I at least know I don't enjoy his genres.Quote:

What exactly defines "good music"?
fair enough noogah
I don't know exactly "what" you listen to, but I'm pretty sure I know what you "don't" listen to.
And, I bet you don't listen to...
Epic Empire by Harpaz, or Vienna C.F.H by Pfeifer Broz, or Themes for Orchestra and Choir I,II, & III by Immediate music (which is far less obscure).
There are many talented composers who work for film companies, and trailer companies. I named the more popular ones that I know of.
That's a question I'm not even going to try and answer. I guess it's a matter of opinion, but there are some factors that are more objective.Quote:

I like a lot of film music but it tends to be written by... actual composers. Like James Horner... Howard Shore, John Williams, Thomas Newman.
I also listen to classical... I am listening to Chopin's Nocturnes currently.
Does this fit with your preconception of what I don't listen to..?
I have grown up on 80's music because my dad was a DJ back then. We have an abundance of 80's music, and even though I wasn't around back then I would say it is one of the greatest decades for music. I still listen to 80's music alot these days. bands such as Duran Duran, tears for fears, toto, guns n roses, dio, cars, MJ, styx, the list goes on......
When I'm surfing the web or playing a game I usually listen to the 90's station on Pandora. There are an extraordinary amount of hits, but it just can't beat the good old 80's.
I slept musically through the 00's and have recently been playing catchup, but there is an awful lot of garbage. In the past year when I started to drive, I began to listen to the radio much more. To be honest I think pop music has gotten a little better than the past decade, but it's really to early to say.
As for the golden age in music known as the 60's and 70's......I don't really go any earlier than 70's. In my opinion the 70's was the start to the best rock music we'd ever hear, but it would end to soon. 60's is just a little to old for me:?
The abundance of music these days is incredible, but rock is practically dead. Will it ever truly come back?
The second video was awesome. I love that song, it's so beautiful.
They are by composers who are employed by companies. Just like all the other "real" film composers.Quote:

Oh, and in regards to obscure music made by one of those 'actual" composers, try and find the complete 73 piece soundtrack to The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe by Harry-Gregson Williams.
The composers who compose the obscure music I listed are just as "actual" as any of the ones you like.Quote:

Well, that's precisely what I do.
Here, give this a listen (Ignore the product. The music deserved better):

It's not all so bad, Noogah:

I agree to an extent, but don't make generalizations. Look at Owen Pallet, Nick Drake, Jonsi, Jamie Liddell, John Frusciante... and many more. Great artists, great people, who simply make music for the sake of music. Not stardom, not money, not fads or trends. Music isn't doomed...
Yes, not everybody has talent, but no one can know who does and who doesn't. Passion is more important. Besides, even if the talent's not there, hey, it's something to do for people complaining about music and not doing anything themselves. I didn't mean that everyone here will become the next Prince.
It'll distract them from bitching and moaning on message boards, which is irritating, and making themselves generally miserable by bitching and moaning about things they have no control over. What I'm saying is, GET A LIFE. Lets see you do better than today's music.
Solution: Pay the artists you enjoy for their work.
Funding for an artist eventually becomes popularity for them as they find the means to distribute on larger scales, advertise, play larger gigs, and so on until they have the public eye and are making music for whatever becomes the peak of their genre (theatrical trailer music for movies, various electronic music for raves, whatever).
Oh, irony.
[edit] Obviously funding is not necessary to put an artist into the spotlight, and people don't pay for music the way they used to. So...
Practical solution: By word of mouth, share your favorite artists with everyone.
Spoiler for Example:
