I sorta liked nested quotes. They can be useful, but only up to a certain point, like three nests:

I'm glad he got rid of them. I hate them too. if you REALLY need to do one then copy and paste the stuff yourself.
Hey Icedawg, i was talking about when you click on your name, it shows your account and stuff, and below that you were able to see your past posts and the last threads you started and ended. maybe im not explaining this well enough, does anyone know what im talking about? Because i really miss that thing!
Also, the site really really LAGS when scrolling quickly trough a topic, or when you click middle mouse button and move down and gently scroll down to read.... Something I used to do all the time. Now, with threads taking longer to scroll cause they're bigger in general because of the capsuled look, AND the whole laggyness it makes browsing threads kind of an annoying expierience.... :(
Also, this is my 3333rd post. YAY. I shall refrain from posting anywhere but in banter. heh.
ah, yes, placebo just mentioned those. they never seemed to work completely properly, and i thought they were kind of annoying? maybe i'll bring back 1 or 2 of the 3, but if memory serves, at least one of them was completely useless.Quote:

also, keep in mind clicking on the cell (and not the title or page #) will automatically jump you to the first post you have not yet read in that topic.
yeah mousewheel still works ok. But I (I never really noticed it untill now) usually click with the middle mouse button and it brings up this little circle with 4 arrows and then move down and it used to go smooth trough threads but now its choppy. I'll try the defrag thing tomorrow, but other then that my PC's plenty.

i think it's a firefox thing, because i tried it after you mentioned it in firefox, and it was very slow in one direction, and not so bad in the other. the more i use firefox--when testing--the more i dislike it. i'm all for competition, because i don't think one browser or product or company should monopolize the market, but wow, i find firefox disappointing on so many different fronts...it's got a way's to go if it plans on ascending above IE in the marketplace.Quote:

We've got Roadrunner down here (TimeWarner cable, for those that don't know) and I'm using Firefox. Aside from the usual timeouts (which I only get on Firefox and I get on every page I try to visit), everything has been very smooth for me. I haven't noticed any problems with my mousewheel or lag in general either.
I always thought the last 3 posts thing was kind of unnecessary and I never paid any attention to them anyway. Maybe that’s just me, though. I usually click the "view unread posts" button and go from there.

The firefox being-slower-than-my-grandma problem could be to do with "Smooth Scrolling", turn that off (if it's on) and then see if it's ok. It won't be so pretty but it'll still work. If it's already off then I've got no idea what it could be.

I run 1280*1024 at home, and the most I can get on a screen is, like, 2 posts. I think you should kinda give viewtopic a few mods.
Hmm, if i view this topic for example http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14194 I can scroll trough the text just fine... when it comes to a new post, it starts moving in shocks... probably because of the amount of graphix or something? You're right in IE It does work better... Hmm.
Still, I aint abandoning the allmighty firefox, it still has less downsides then IE has.
Actually I just tested with smooth scrolling. It doesn't seem to jog here? :?
I noticed one thing about the new theme. In the section where you can see all people online it's pretty hard to see if a user is a global moderator or a moderator. Especially the color of a global moderator is very near to the color of a normal user and the font weight is also the same.

sure! if you'd like, i'll remove genders, flags, custom titles, # of users welcomed for dream guides, reduce allowed avatar size, and force people to stop maxing out the location fields. would you prefer that? personally i love the viewtopic page. i understand what you're saying, but everything is a compromise...the design uses up more space, yes, but it looks better...much, much better. just like all those aforementioned options take up space, but they allow us to personalize our profiles more.Quote:

hrm...wow, i can't think of even one; it's been handling so many things better than FireFox while i've been developing. IE sure has come a long way; i used to hate it.Quote:

the colours of regular users and global mods have always been close; the font weight, however is not the same: staff names are in bold. check the source if it's not apparent to you. regardless, none of that is any different than the original theme: i kept the same colours.Quote:

Yeah, it is really hard to tell what is bold and what is not. in that small font.
PS: Every other word is bolded in that phrase.

Also, you made the post reply screen grey instead of that blue and the text black (are you gonna make it a bit lighter grey to match the rest of the forum?), are you gonna do that with the rest of the text fields?
Also, just generally in the forums...
When you highlight text and click on of the bbcode buttons, it goes back to the beginning of the text field. Could you make it so it doesn't do that?

no and no...i wanted to follow along with the same tone style (i.e. something differing from the theme, even slightly...it draws one's attention immediately there, since it stands out); i think the grey is perfect for the textarea...i really like it. so far as text fields go, i think the blue works really well with the greys...i haven't signed off on the exact tone of blue just yet though.Quote:
