Are you part of the 98%?

I seen about the same thing. But with 'NAME A TOOL!'. People often tended to say 'red hammer'. I think the little math has nothing to do with that. I mean, screwdriver is a to long a word...

potatos are tubers, and this trick also works with the number 14. but i think thats because people associate 14 with carat instead of carrot.

I had a complete brain fart at the end and thought "what the hell is a vegetable? That's not a math problem!" then an image of a big green head of broccoli popped into my head. That 98% thing doesn't seem to apply to this (non-representational) sample of the human population, at least. Who originally did the study to come up w/ that stat?

I suppose it is a language thing. Carrots are common and it is an easy word to say. What else is there? Celery. Tomatoes. Lettuce? Why, I even had to look up 'lettuce' to spell it right.

There is also the similar exercise which asks the person to think of a color and a tool, and an inordinate proportion of people say "Red Hammer"... but what else would you say? Scarlet Screwdriver?... yeah, really.

If you look at my other post, all I could come up with was banana. So, just a couple of seconds ago I was looking at my old posts and I read the beginning "mind thingy" thing and did it over, but I didn't remember anything it was about. So I'm reading it and I'm like, "6, 6, 6" this is sorta boring, but then it gets to the part where you think of a vegitable, and I thought banana. Then I read my post in this thread and I saw that I got banana before too. Just thought it was sorta funny.
