I just finished a Bachelor degree in psychology, and i'm planning to start a Masters in film studies next semester. Right now i have a part-time job as a research assistant in Cognitive Gerontology.
So, that was me.

I work in a nursing home looking after the elderly. Have been at the same place for four years, but i'm hoping to eventually go into nursing.
It's hard work, and you're half dead after every shift, but it's worth it when someone smiles at you.

I'm an LVT - see my profile. After finishing high school, then completing my general education requirements in college, I completed the 2 year veterinary program, took state and national board exams, and obtained my license. My license has to be renewed every year.
Half way through grade ten, good grades think Ill go into psychology later on.

Anyway, currently I don't have a job (it's difficult to keep a good one when you're bouncing back and forth between school and home every other weekend). I will be starting into some undergrad research this semester, though.
I'm in school, 12th grade. I'm only going to school because I'd get kicked out of the house or face limitations if I did not. My grades are exactly borderline between bad and good enough to complete school, but I don't intend on completing it; I have no need of it, as I do not plan on working the rest of my life until I become retired like the average person.
I'm going to live in the woods this summer (not a permanent house, just wandering around), which will make me less dependant on all of the materialistic shit.
I've been a speech/language therapist for a public school system for 27 years. My favorite students to work with are the special needs children, especially "my babies" (I call them that because they are our youngest students)(three-year olds) that begin school in a developmentally delayed class. I have a Master's degree plus 30 hours above from the University of South Carolina. (Go Gamecocks!)
I'm studying psychology, english and maths, and I am a part time chef at the moment.

I've got a degree in physics (or do you call it a bachelor degree? it lasts five courses at university), and I'm now working in quality assurance of medical equipment: x-rays machines, computer tomography and so.

I have no finished education, i wanted to make a living of making 3d animations. and that i managed, im now a Design Engineer for National Oilwell Varco. been there for 2 years now, and i'm 23.
Im currently attending Sinclaire Secondary school, and im in the 9th grade. After I finish highschool, im thinking about either praticing any field of biology, psychology, or becoming a police officer.
I dont have a job. But im looking, its hard because I have no past experience, only volunteer work. I guess thats why noone wants to hire me.

I used to work in a funeral home parttime...nothing like vacuuming around dead ppl at 8pm on a friday night. and dead babies jokes arn't as funny when you've seen someone carry a dead baby in real life. I totally could have hooked you up with human organs though. in conclusion the job was kvlt.
I'm self-employed in a family owned Paralegal business focusing on Family Law Civil, Probate, and Small Claims and so on. We are affiliated with other Law firms our area which brings in a lot of business and prestige. I am also a licensed Phlebotomist. :)

I completed my bachelor's degree in Physics in May 2005 w/ minors in German and sociology. After graduation, I took a year off from school and taught at a residential environmental education center in rural Mississippi for a semester and then taught swimming lessons and did odd jobs around my hometown for a semester. That last semester of working gave me a renewed appreciation for the ivory tower of academia, so I climbed back into the cloister and am currently a grad student in atmospheric sciences (my research is in the areas of climate change and extreme weather).
However, I'm not a fan of specialization and the day-to-day modeling and programming which my research involves isn't something that I particularly enjoy (the findings are pretty damn cool, though, I've gotta say), so I'm considering dropping my degree objective down from the Ph.D. to the Master's and then getting a second Master's in Environmental Policy. My career goal (at the moment) is to be a science writer for a national publication, writing, preferably, about climate and environmental issues so that the public understand not only what the science is, but why it matters. Since without public support, the science will not advance, and without the science, society will become increasingly vulnerable to the deleterious environmental and climatological effects of human actions, public understanding of and support for science (and public policy) related to climate change and environmental degredation is of especially strong importance both now and in the future.
My advisor has no idea that I'm thinking of dropping my degree objective, though, so everybody "Shhh" :wink:
I am a full time student, getting my BA in English. And, I am a weaver/seamstress.
This is a question I dread getting asked in social situations. Here's why:
I hold a job with a small stamping plant that I had no intention of staying with for very long. My job is inside sales, special projects management, IT, repair and troubleshooting, engineering, occasional toolmaking... and on and on. I'm an administrator, mostly, and "administrate" whatever seems to need it at the time. It is a fun job with great people, and I'm treated royally by them.
We also run a small machine shop, which I work at most evenings and weekends. That was intended to be the career, but then came Michigan's private little recession, which changed everything. The business is doing ok - it is paid for, self-supporting and providing a bit of extra income, but it has never really blossomed. Not yet, anyway.
I am also a musician. That is more of an avocation right now, but trending back toward more regular gigs. If I had my "druthers", that is what I would do full time.
My education is as varied as my career(s); I have a BA in mechanical engineering, AAs in general business and liberal arts, and an AS in accounting.
My real dream is to somehow combine my engineering and machining expertise with my musical interests - perhaps in making instruments of some kind.
Hey PJ what kind of instruments would you make? that would be so cool! think you might make stuff like 4mspedals.com? or more acoustic type stuff?

I decided to take the asvab (military) test to see what jobs I would be qualified for, and aced it (aka I can do any job I want, depending upon availability.) So I'm thinking about joining the airfoce by the end of this summer. I'm just working on getting my act together now, and seeing if the wind takes me anywhere special before then. I'm currently taking electrical and mechanical classes at a junior college for knowledge and understanding. But, I guess that's what school is really all about anyways.

I took all the advanced art classes in high school and went on to college to get a fine arts degree. As my interests lie in there art field.
So I get a landscaping job. At that time I am three classes away from my degree.
I gave what life handed me. Because of my financial situation at that time I got stuck. :|
I did go on to now own my own landscaping company and it is doing well. I get to use some of my art experience when rendering landscaping design and architecture for my customers. I work my ass off and am proud of what I built.
But often as I am in the middle of the day performing hard labor I think to myself.

I have an "office and data administration" diploma... Just a high school degree. But I did a lot of evening classes and that's how I scored my job!
I work at the ITC Helpdesk for a gouverment institution. My main task is helping out my collegues when they have problems with their computers. Next week I'll have another task here, I'll have to do a lot of work in MS Access, making reports, new databases etc.
I like my job, but I love my hobbies :bigteeth:

For the past three years I've been studying towards a Bachelors in Arts and a Bachelors in Law. I've dropped the law side, so, this last year will be my last year studying undergraduate Arts. I'm majoring in History, also studyied Ancient History, Philosophy, Latin, and Psychology. As well as the Law, of course.
After this year has finished, I'm going to do one of two things. I'll either do an OE and go to Europe, Britain, and the US and work my way around the world. A working holiday kinda thing. I have a EU passport so pretty much I can do whatever the hell I like and don't have to worry about visas, except for the US of A. If I don't do an OE, I'll go straight back to university and start my postgrad, working my way through BA (honours), Masters, on to getting a scholarship to do my PhD overseas, perhaps in the UK. If I do a year or so of travelling and working, I'll come back to uni after it's done and start postgrad and do what I describerd before. :D

I'm a Junior in College studying Psychology (B.S.) and working on a minor in theatre.
I don't know what I want to do with my life. Dreaming is my passion and they have graduate programs for dreams (most notably JFK in California's Dream Studies Program)
What sucks is that a lot of 'scientists' still see dream studies as parapsychology (fake science) I'm wondering what kind of job I'd be able to get from an acredited fake studies school. By the way, I think I might post this as a new topic to get some more viewpoints....but where?

Was contemplating going to school for Social/Cultural Anthropology and Philosophy but decided that i could spend 1/30th of the cost of a University degree on my own books and enhancing my education (unofficially) myself while progresing into a field that keeps me from falling to the wayside:D
Besides, all the knowledge in the world is available outside of the four walls of a classroom as well (and more critical analysis of actual truth, not that Edu-Certified truth ;) )

Right now my Major is Economics, at Idaho State University. I have plans to get my MBA in Harvard.
It is sort of interesting what happened to me. Back in my home country (Brazil) I got into medicine school (you don't need a previous degree there to go to medicine school) but I was drafted by the army (yes... I was 17 at that time. I will turn 19 in march) and I had to drop medicine school, so I applied for an American school so that I could get a deferment and run away from the military service (yes it sucks to be a soldier in Brazil, but at least you don't go to Iraq hehe).
So now I put this idea in my mind that I wanna be an economist just because I'm a frustrated medicine student.
Sad but true :P well, some times we have to try to at least make the best of what we call life.
Me? I'm 21. Just your average joe working in refineries as a boilermaker for about 20+ an hour. I really wanted to look into animation and art design. But dont know what happened? What I have right know is good pay but a lot of moving around. And that I dont get to use my imagination enough is what kills me. For the rest of yall, go to school, reach your dream. Its not late for me but too much has been lost already.
Im currently a freshman in college with a doubble major in history and video. I would love to make acient history documentaries. I plan to go on to get my PHD in acient history. I have no idea where all of this will really take me, but i love both, and if i have the highest degree i can possible get in each, im sure it'll lead to somewhere good.
I'm currently a dry waller, have been for almost 14 years now.
Before that I was a journeyman concrete finisher.
in between that I was a heavy equipment operator I worked in Sedona Arizona during 1992 and 1991 putting in a sewer sys.
At this job, other than running the equipment, I also laid pipe and helped set manholes.
During this time I was in trenches that where two feet wide and as much as 36' deep.
The job I had in Winslow Arizona was on a state ruins National Park.
At this job I learned how to operate heavy equipment, trackhoe/excavators, loaders, backhoe, dozer's and dump-trucks. That was about 1990-1991
I also startted pouring concrete and finishing sidewalks, curb and gutter and thrust-blocks.
to keep hte pipe from washing down the Little Colorado River this thrust block was, well is, 10' high 36' long and 3' thick with 1" rebar @6" centers woven lin and out of eachother so as to resemble a net and also tied with heavy-gauge wire.
This had a 6' double section in the middle shaped as a diamond holding up a 2-1/2" 5x5' square steel plate with five stud-ports coming out of it in a circle these if I remember right where 2-3/4" thick stainless steel cables that would protrude from the thrust block.
From there they went down to a slab that was 10' long or so and about 3' wide this had a section about 3/4 of the way down where the pip was connected and anchored to the slab which was just a s intricate in it's design.
Very interesting job that was.
From 1987-1990 I was in framing and worked on some pretty fancy stuff.
Building cabin suites in Sundance Utah, (Robert Redford's ski resort) an environmentalist we had to hand carry logs and wood and set the beams with crane from the road above.
I also worked on a job framing in Camp Pendleton in California 1989
From 1989-1990 I worked in a log shop manufacturing gass logs that your gas fire places use.
I worked in there lab creating, or helping to create the master copy logs and help come up with types of light materials that where heat resistant.
Sometime in between all this I worked in Salt Lake City pouring side walk and gutter.
we did replacement, would tear out the concrete re-form it and pour new ones.
People don't mess with you while your driving a loader. ha ha.
Besides these few jobs I worked in Alaska for 11 years doing drywall which I started doing in 1993 and still do.
I've worked for myself for about 7-8 years.
I Hang Tape and Texture. I'm not just a hanger or just a taper. I personally do it all myself.

I'm very very good at what I do I do allot of custom drywall, allot.
I've also done glass etching art and fiber-optics, creation to installation.
I'v also done roofing, wiring, insulation, trim, helped in the making of some Documentary's.
I also dropped out of school early in the 9th grade. :blue:
Currently in grade 10. No job planning on working in the summer. I volunteer at the hospital and thats about it.

At the moment though I am a music teacher, teaching at a music academy.
I teach electric guitar and drums there and I'm really enjoying it! :D
The only thing I don't like is that I work in the eveninigs, this is because the kids don't finish school until 4pm so I can't work any earlier than that.
On the plus side though this means that I don't have to get out of bed in the morning! More sleep :content:
This job is only temporary though, I may be going to University next year to continue music technology, or maybe something to do with media, not sure yet but we'll see.
Umm, well, that's about all I do for now. Just this job and my hobbies :D

Education in the Netherlands is somewhat different from those in other countries... so i'll try to explain it here:
-kindergarten (age: 2-4)
-Elementary School (age: 4-12 (the so-called "groups": "group" 1 through "group" 8))
-after that comes the so-called "Continued Education" ("high school"), and there are different flavours in that:
-VMBO (preparatory middle-level vocational education), this education lasts four years, from the age of twelve to sixteen, and focuses on learning for a certain profession. people that have studied VMBO can, after their study, go and study MBO (middle-level vocational education). VMBO can be considered the "lowest" study when compared to the others. still, 60% of the people choose to do this.
-HAVO (higher, general continued education) has five grades and is attended from age twelve to seventeen. A HAVO diploma provides access to the HBO-level (polytechnic) of tertiary education. in the first 3 years, students will receive the "normal etiquette": the "basis subjects": such as mathematics, dutch, english, history, geography, etc. but in the "second phase" (see second phase below), they will have to choose a profile (see: profiles below). HAVO is higher than the VMBO, but lower than the VWO and Gymnasium (just dare to laugh at that!)
-VWO (preparatory scientific education) has 6 grades, ages 12 through 18.
VWO is, essentially, the same as HAVO, it just takes a little longer to complete, but also is significantly harder.
A VWO diploma provides access to WO training, although universities may set their own admittance criteria (e.g. based on profile (see: profile later on) or on certain subjects). Another term for this route of education is "Atheneum".
-Gymnasium: A Gymnasium programme is similar to the VWO, except that Latin and Greek are typically compulsory until the third year. In practice, a Gymnasium diploma gains more respect over a typical VWO diploma. This is the highest form of education you can receive here (so don't be deceived by the name).
after this you can go to a "high school" or to a "university" to study MBO (middle-level vocational education) or HBO (higher vocational education), or WO (scientific education).
so: second phase: after 3 years of studying in HAVO, VWO, or Gymnasium, you will have to pick a profile, a secondary language (german or french, or both), a classical language (latin or ancient greek, or both), and a "free subject" (such as economy, philosophy, biology, computer science, etc)
profiles: -culture and society: emphasizes on history, arts and foreign languages.
-economy and society: emphasizes on social sciences, economy, and history. The mathematics classes focus on statistics and stochastics.
-nature and technology: emphasizes on natural sciences. The mathematics classes focus on algebra and geometry.
-nature and health: emphasizes on biology and natural sciences. The mathematics classes focus on algebra and geometry.
so what do i do?
-Gymnasium, i'm in 4th year now, and i've chosen nature and health as my profile (they feature Mathematics B (B stands for algebra and geometry (but this too, has some statistics and stochastics... this just doesn't emphasise on it), A stands for statistics and stochastics), Physics, Chemistry, Biology), i also have the standard subjects (dutch, english, PE), and my subjects of choice (german and latin). my free subject is Philosophy.
and that's about it...
i'm thinking about going to the University of Amsterdam after this, to study Artificial Intelligence... but i'm not sure (i still have 2.5 years to think about it, and to visit other universities... so...)

9th grade at school (I think that's what I'd be in the US). I occasionally go busking with my violin to earn extra cash.. I get quite a lot :P
I am a freshman at the University of Michigan. I am here for an engineering degree, either mechanical or aerospace.

I just came back from selections for the South African Air Force to be a fighter pilot, and I failed my medical :blue: 'cause I have mild hearing loss. I'm now applying to the transport training board in South Africa to get a grant to do my pilot training, and if that falls through I'm going to have to be a programmer for a lot longer while I some how pay for my pilot training myself :blue:
