Ok, here's mine. There are are a few parts that I'm just not happy with (and one around 3:17 where I just completely missed the note I was searching for - you'll hear it), but it was the best take that I recorded, so it'll have to do.

Very nice, O! You squeezed some mean sounds out of that thing!
On listening to mine "the morning after..." man. I have to thank L.S. for coming up with this one, that's for sure.
"Finding the notes" just isn't a problem. Nailing a pleasing tone and doing a decent recording isn't an issue. Getting those notes in time, however, is another thing entirely. That's what REALLY sets us amateurs apart from the guys who can really wail. This has been an exercise in timing, and a good one. In that regard, I'm not at all pleased with my performance. That's a good thing - it gives me better perspective into an area I need to invest some serious concentration now. Those were the "warts" I was referring to last night. This morning they seem like gaping, oozing wounds. Heh.
Ah well - it is what it is. That's where my playing is at today, and it is an honest representation of it.
Those are pretty badass guys, i got some okay news that may come to mind, but i'll wait shortly before showing.
CB, its Pink Floydish because its a david gilmour blues backing.
Erm, i may be goin in to get my guitar fixed today, i don't know, i need someone to give me a lift up there and it could be difficult, may i ask how long i have left to post a submission? I really want to take part in this one.
If my vote counts, we wait for you.
Blimey! You lot are really quick off the mark! Some of us Brits have only just got up! I'm going to have to move my arse on this one, if I can find any time today.. how long have we got?
And thanks for the mp3 conversion pj.. much appreciated.
Depending on how long we have left I will try and get it done asap. If I don't have it done by the end of the day then just carry on without me. I don't even know if it can be fixed today, and I don't want to be messing you all about. I'll see what I can do.
Great work pj and O!
pj? There's one bit around 1.10 where you hit the improv heights imo. Just a little downward run of 4-5 notes, but spot-on. Sounds so good I'm going to have to nick it! ;) Not so sure about the Steinberger sound, though. I've heard them before, and I think they're an acquired taste. Great take though, pj.
O? Your upper fret sound is mega! Fantastic bite and sustain.. what guitar do you play? The red Gibson Les Paul? Is it a Gibbo?
I'm gonna have to go some to keep up with the standard already shown. Good work guys.
Thank you! You are welcome to whatever it is - I'm going to have to go back and listen to find out what it is.
The Steinberger is a chameleon of sorts. I chose the bridge pickup, which is a passive EMG humbucker. On afterthought, I probably should have gone with the center pickup, which is single-coil, and applied some EQ to brighten it up a bit. Ah well - 20/20 hindsight.
Okay. Here's my entry. I felt really restricted doing this. I kept telling myself "Slow! Slow!" and it was challenging, although good practice. I couldn't always resist the temptation to let rip however, but I tried to keep it to a minimum.
G&L Comanche > GK250ML > PC + echo.

It's the bit between 1.05 and 1.07 approx.
Ha! The SRV approach there, at least at the beginning. Riviera Paradise, anybody?
Loverly tone... nice work.
Thanks, Pj! :content:
Thanks, LS. And doing worry, man. Whenever you get around to it.
Thanks! It's an Epihone Les Paul run through a Zoom505II pedal and an old ART MultiVerb Alpha panel. :D
Awesome. Pj's right - it does sound a bit like SRV. You've got some pretty quick fingers, man. Those runs are great.
Thanks O.
Wow, this one has so much potential. I actually LOVE this backtrack.
And that makes perfect sense, lmao.Quote:

Lol. Ok. Just checking. :chuckle:
Without further adieu, here is my entry. I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out. Great intro, great ending. Some of the middle stuff is a bit repetitive but I'm okay with that. Few sour notes, but that's it.
This was probably one of the first times where I went up and down the neck all on my own to find the scale. I've never actually done that before, so pat on the back for me. :)
Great job everyone, this one was awesome.
Nice, CB! Pretty damn good for your first time navigating around the fretboard and finding it on your own. :D The guitar tone, itself is just a little rough (IMO) but I think you did great!
Yeah, I didn't realize it until after but I had been on the wrong pickup throughout the whole thing. Oh well.
I'll be posting mine when I get back from college, but its going to have to be on my crap guitar since its all I got.
Aw man, I haven't been able to participate in these last couple :( - I really like this challenge too. If I get the chance I'd like to drop in a late entry, doesn't have to get in on the voting ballot.
(I might not fill out the entire piece, though - it's kinda long)
My Mac is fully functional and i should have mine up in an hour or two. I need to eat, then i'll get it recorded, thats if my dads not in bed.
Sorry for not posting earlier, i hope i'm not dragging this along.
Okay, heres my go, i could have done a lot better had i done another take, plus i forgot to record till a few seconds in so all the more sucker me. I was feeling rather repetitive today in my improvisation, so its does repeat a lot unfortunately. Oh, and the sound quality is pretty bad for some reason. I'm regretting doing it on a clean setting because you can barely hear me over the backing track. I had a pretty good intro which is annoying and i managed to cock up the outro by not finishing with the track :P
But i hope you enjoy anyways.
I hate uploading sites, why can't it just be simple.
My personal criticisms are the following.
- Too much repetition
- Too many mistakes
- Out of tune guitar :P
- I tried to get too adventurous at times which resulted in mistakes.
- Damn repetition again, i really wish i could have another take at this since i could do a much better one which explores more of the fretboard, i did try to but i wanted to make it fluid and smooth.
- I think i went a bit too fast in places.
There are more, but hopefully i didn't do too bad, but its good to be back, i love the feel of this competition because it gives people the chance to explore new horizons and improve.
Oh, and this is on my crappy Encore Strat-Replica, so sorry for the crap quality overall.
