Okay.. here goes.
It's a cover of Jodeci's "Feenin".

Cheers mate! :goodjob2: Yeah, I love the song. One of my favourites to sing, not that I did such a great job on it, but yeah..
Yes, I too miss some of the 2nd wave of R&B.. early bump 'n grind and stuff like that.
I'll have to go and listen to "Word Up" (the album) now for a quick fix!;)

Here is bach's sinfonia to cantata done with echo reverb. I play it in a way that every note repeats before i hit the next one. It gives the illussion that I'm playing twice as fast.
actually no i wanna change it to a better version with a backing that i worked on just now. expect the youtube link.
err why can't i delete or edit the other post...
I Want this to be my entry instead. Bach sinfonia to cantata # 29 100bpm
Nicely done, Ranma. :goodjob2:
I will be opening up the vote thread in just a bit (after I finish my school work and take some time to record mine). I hope everyone who plans on participating has turned in their submissions already.
*taps his keyboard and waits for his slow-ass video upload.* :?
Ok, finally. And it just figures that, after all this time, the only one I've got uploaded is really shitty quality. I couldn't quite get the lighting right, and it's 2 AM now so I just said screw it and uploaded this one. I may upload another down the line, but this is what I got for the sake of the contest.
It's Heroes by Shinedown. I'm still a bit sloppy on the solo, because my fingers just don't quite work that fast yet, but I'm getting there.
[Edit:
And all of you guys that are in the contest, make sure you cast a vote for yourselves. That way we don't stand the risk of someone voting for himself and others not voting. Everyone that participates needs to vote once for himself.]
So I think it's pretty safe to say that Ranma's got this week's competition swept. :)
Any ideas for our next task?
I had a few different ideas.
- Play a Christmas song. It can be as simple or embellished/stylized as you'd like.
- Play a chord-melody arrangement of some song. For those not familiar with this, chord melody is - you guessed it - playing the chords and the melody simultaneously. It's most commonly seen in jazz but can be done with most songs. (Here's some guy playing a chord melody arrangement of the Beatles' 'Yesterday'.) You can arrange it yourself or play someone else's arrangement; either way, if you haven't done this before it should be a valuable learning experience.
- Compose a guitar solo. We've done the improving thing at least once, maybe more, but I don't think we've actually had people sit down and compose one. We could use the same backing for everyone or everyone could use their own.
What do you guys think?
I'm not really feeling the christmas song idea, but the other two sound good to me. I think we should do the solo on a blues.
I like composing a solo.
how about this track?
http://www.guitarbt.com/index.php?pa...20like&ext=mp3
click download link !. it's very gilmour esque
It certainly is. (Incidentally, I downloaded this backing track a couple years ago and occasionally jam over it :D.) But since we already had one a while back where we improvised to a Gilmour-style slow blues, maybe we should pick one that's a bit different this time. Ya know, mix it up .
I like the "compose a solo" idea, and agree about it being something other than the Gilmore-styled blues - since we already did that one. I've got a bunch of backing tracks on my PC (some of which I got from Here). I'll go through them and see if I can come up with something that might work.
What do you guys think of this one?
Riders On The Storm Jam
The Doors! Got it off guitarbt.com and edited it to fade out after 2 minutes, which I think is quite long enough. It's cool and bluesy --->
The bass is clompy in the begining, but I'm cool with it.
Thanks, man'g. :cooler:
And what do you all think of composing a solo for Jimmy Hendrix - Hey Joe
[Edit: Just noticed the "Riders of the Storm" link, DuB. That could work also.]
I vote Hey Joe, but those are both nice tracks.
Can't argue with Jimi.
Ok, now...should we make this a "timed excerpt" sort of thing, where we have to play a certain section, or a certain time limit? Maybe a minute, or 30 seconds?
How about a deadline? Next Friday work?
I'm in, if I can upload it.
