So who's comin with me? :-?
I'd go.
I would SO go to that... but I'd stay away from the (?) lioness in the first picture. She looks about ready to devour the man.
That's an accident waiting to happen. but hey why not go!
Yeah someone's gonna get severely hurt in like... *looks at watch* 14 seconds.
That's a fucking horrible idea. Even the tamest of lions/other big animals can bite you accidentally. My pet cat bites me all the time in a playful way. Imagine a big lion or bear doing the same.
One of the comments on the site mentioned that anyone who has a pet cat will know how every now and then they'll freak out and scratch/bite someone. There's no way I'd go there.
I want to pet the kitties :3
Oh, boo hoo, "it's risky." Take a fucking chance, have some fun. Obviously nobody's been bitten yet, and if you don't fuck around, you won't be the first.
Instead of being able to pet a fucking lion, you'll be able to say to your friends "Well, I stayed home because it seemed unsafe. Accidents happen, you know?"
(no offense, just ranting)
Yeah, honestly, wild animals are wild animals. They can seem tame, but will still react to their animal instincts if something happens.
I wouldn't do it.
even well trained animals are still slaves, because they are not in their natural state. Much of their natural instincts are denied. That's what makes it the most dangerous. This is exactly why that monkey attacked that one lady. Even tho he was domesticated, he was still a slave to the household. THat's why the monkey snapped after how many years.
It's the same with this zoo. An accident waiting to happen.
Still doesn't change my mind...I want to pet the kitties that go rawr
 I mean... saying "no one's been bitten yet" is like saying, "well... we're inside a burning house at the moment, but no one's been burned to death yet, hurr durr."
Petting lions and crap is not the same thing as taking risks in life in order to live better. Petting lions is just stupid, and it's something uneducated people do. :P IMO.
So you don't stand under falling objects and you get the hell out of there before the house collapses.
EDIT: Also, in response to the vids and other stuff, that's what I meant by "Don't fuck around."
- Don't startle the animal by suddenly appearing behind it.
- Don't hurt it or startle it in any way, like leaning on its paw.
- Don't pet it the wrong way or something.
- Don't spend too much time around it, that makes it riskier.
- Don't train animals yourself, THAT is what I consider asking for it.
- Don't.... wear... a shirt that it likes? Goddamn, fuck pandas. Look at it rubbing the shirt in its face.
Of course I wouldn't want one of those as a pet or something, I don't want any animal as a pet that hasn't been domesticated over many generations.
That brings me to another point, domesticated animals can attack too. Much, much less likely, but it still happens.
That entire post is pretty much an example of why such a petting zoo is a bad idea.
"Don't startle the animal." - That's like saying "Don't startle the person." No one knows what startles someone or something until it's startled.
"Don't pet it the wrong way." - 'The wrong way?' Do they sell 'How to' books on the right way to pet a lion?
"Don't spend too much time around it." - How do you know when it's 'too much time'? When it tears your face off?
"Don't train animals yourself" - Does this rule also apply to the trainers that handle the animals in the zoo?
"Don't wear a shirt that it likes" - :wtf:
My point is to say that "Don't fuck around" isn't really substantial. Animals are living creatures. They are not robots. There is no "set parameter" to follow to ensure you don't get mauled by an animal. "Not fucking around" has very little to do with it. You stand a better chance of not getting mauled of you somehow understand the animal enough to not do anything to annoying it (being telepathic would help), but an animal is going to snap when triggered, whether you know you're doing something it doesn't like or not.
That was my point. I never meant that you can completely prevent it, but you can reduce your chances of an accident.
EDIT: I was going to go into more detail on all of the individual things, but honestly, I'm tired and just don't care anymore to defend my post that wasn't exactly well thought out.
Yea, all the videos were of provoked animals.
I would go, but I have no moneys.
