Big iPhone + Kindle = iPAD
What are the negative things you heard? All I heard was that it was awesome... but eh it is probably glitchy just like everyone said the iphone was.
I think they should have made it thicker. I don't care about something being thin.
You shouldn't sacrifice functionality for being thin.
Can you imagine how bright it will be? my iphone when i have it on can be really bright in a dark room, this is much bigger. Who needs lights on when you can turn on an ipad.:D
I'll probably get an ipad. I got an iphone, and ipod so... I have got TONS of people at my work to get iphones aswell, and more on the way.
it's another step forward, I'm for it.
The only negatives i've heard are from old fools who cry that it's just another way for the young people to be absorbed into the fake world and not real life. I hate the ones in the older generation that refuse this type of technological advance, simply because they don't like how much their sons or daughters text too much or spend too much time on video games... Sheesh... at least we're trying to bring it all into one "box"...
I dunno, I'd prefer a netbook if I were looking for something like that, but that's just me.
I would be happy with a laptop and an iPhone.
Maybe a bit more expensive, but it does everything I would need.
Work, phone, text, internet, music whatever.
The iPad is being sold as if it is an alternative to laptop. No way is it comparable.
Well actually I've seen a lot of "wow that is SO stupid, it's just a huge iphone!" And before bitching about Steve Jobs and what a piece of crap this is. Personally I have no idea what they are talking about. Who cares if it somewhat resembles an oversized iphone? My iphone is sexy as hell lol.
I love that it is so thin. I have an expensive Wacom drawing tablet that is so big and bulky I've never been able to get used to using the damn thing! What a waste of money. :P I would love to be able to replace it with something like this. I'm surprised at the cool things I can create on my little iphone with some drawing apps...cannot imagine using this thing to draw. Would be great!
I suspect the people bitching about the product are the same ones who complain about Apple sucking regarding everything. Such people do not live on the same planet as I do, I'm convinced. :P
edit: slash, how is it being sold as an alternative to a laptop? I don't see that. I guess I think of it more like a tablet/awesome handheld gaming device/kindle/movie watcher/with awesome apps than any sort of laptop or netbook. Not even in the same ballpark imo. (but maybe I see it differently b/c I have a laptop so I can see how I would use it very differently?)
There are some serious concerns about the media you buy for it. If I've understood what I read correctly, Apple can delete any book/music/whatever you've legally bought from it without your approval. Also, they are holding an iron grip on it, demanding that they get to approve whatever you get to download, and I believe it's locked like the iPhone, so that you cannot install apps that apple haven't approved. That's just an affront to basic right and freedom.
I saw the keynote, I was really hoping for a tablet Mac, running all of the regular software, not a big iPhone. :( I'll pass unless they add true multitasking. iBook does look nice though, but I prefer real books.
No, it's not locked, and they can't remove things you've bought, that's not legal. Where did you get that information.
It can't play flash and it doesn't support USB. I know it's not supposed to be a laptop, but it should have been built to compete with one. Also, not sure if it has a disk drive but it needs one. I want movies and CDs on my iPad. I'll probabally get one when 3.0 comes out.
Also, stupid name. I think it was Steven Colbert said it was almost called the TamPod. And I luled.
The iPad certainly has practical uses, but it's probably not something for the common man. It's very futuristic though, which is pretty cool.
It looks.. very big. I actually wouldn't want one, but that i just because I don't need one. But free donations are surely accepted :3
I do not have desire for any of Apple's products. I suppose I just don't get why somebody needs all those features.
Err...this seems like a lot for $500. I guess it's more of a mini-laptap than a tablet. I bet artists will be trying this out and seeing if it's worth it.
