I like to record myself preforming various types of autosuggestion. I have recordings that repeat mantras to myself. "I am a good lucid dreamer".
I have one (about 40 minutes long) that goes over all my dream signs starting with the very obvious/common ones and moving to the more vague ones. (I have a lot of dream signs). The recording goes into detail about each dream sign, what I believe the symbolism is behind it, what contexts it occurs in, etc.
I also have one for my dream goals. I planned on cycling this one out once I completed more dream goals. (I've been having a hard time remembering goals in dreams, maybe I'll listen to that one a few times tonight.)
When I first heard of technological aids or EILD, I thought I was above them, that I didn't need them and that I should try to develop my skill as a lucid dreamer naturally, but I've found them to be rather useful as a supplement to my regular practice, and I've been disciplined about not allowing them to become the sole driver of my practice. Usually I play the recordings in the car while driving to/from campus. (Or turn them off and do autosuggestion the old fashioned way.) It's a good way for me to make use of time that would otherwise go to waste. It holds a secondary role and is mostly just there as a dry spell breaker or leg up when the going gets tough. But i figure if I am going to use a technological aid, I should at least have a hand in its creation and personalize it to my needs.
