White Noise
Hi,
I've already asked this in my in the newbie zone but since I didn't get any question there I gonna ask it here again.:cheeky:
So, like the title says, can White Noise be helpful? Did anyone experience positive things, or negative things?
Afaik it helps sleeping, getting rid of depressions, headaches etc. so why it shouldn't help LDing?
Looking forward for some answers.:)

I put a small fan on every night. It keeps the air circulating and it provides white noise which I like. I used to use an actual white noise machine. (Marpac Sound Screen) It really helped me get lucid one time. I was laying there trying to enter SP after a WBTB. Suddenly I felt different and suspected I was in the dream state. I listened for the fan but there was silence! This tipped me off that I was definitely in the non physical state.

If you get used to having a fan on (or any other white noise) you can switch it off for one night and your sleep quality is different. It may increase your chances of becoming lucid, but because I rely on white noise so much to sleep I wouldn't like to experiment.

Whilst trying to LD , last night I started hearing really loud white noise. It was so annoying.

Actually, I think a fan and most natural sources of broad spectrum noise are "pink noise". They are referred to as pink due to the amplitude of the frequency distribution being higher in the lower range of hearing. Ocean waves are a good example. White noise, on the other hand, can be quite annoying, and is not usually pleasant to listen to for long. An example of white noise is an untuned TV or radio station.
What is interesting to me is the fan. Since it is spinning, it creates a vortex of air, if this air begins to buffet, you will get a pulsing sound that is in the 3 to 10 hz range, similar to isochronic pulses. I think this could help you LD, but you don't really have control of the beat frequency.
I use a fan to fall asleep. It really helps. I just noticed the buffeting a few weeks ago...
