DC Pulling Me Into Lucidity + Dreams Within Dreams
Well, I had my second lucid dream since joining this site last night, and it was rather unusual - I was pushed into lucidity by a dream character, in a dream within a dream! Let me explain:
So the first dream level began in a large city, most likely downtown Chicago, on a warm, sunny day. I was just walking down a busy street, minding my own business, when all of a sudden a random, but frantic dream character came up to me. He was holding in his hand what looked like a compact dream machine like the one in Inception, but only for one person. It looked like a gray frisbee, with the vial and start button next to each other in the center. The rest was covered in lights and tubes. The IV came out the side and was wound up inside the machine. Without even explaining himself, he immediately told me that I needed to come with him.
So a strange DC comes up to me with a strange drug machine and tells me to go with him. How can I not oblige?:D
He led me to a small warehouse building, like the one in Inception, and told me to lay down on a small army cot. He placed the dream machine on a stand next to the bed and handed me the needle to insert in my arm. Once I was settled in and ready to do whatever I was supposed to do, he told me, "you'll know what you need to do when you get there, and remember it's a dream." He then hit the button and I succumb to the urge to sleep and became bathed in a white light. Mind you, that this entire interaction was non-lucid. When he said "it's a dream," he was only refering to the next level.
I then shifted to a third person view of another city, which looked a lot like Cobb's limbo. It was filled with many neat, orderly buildings. However, they were all large, hi-rise-sized hexagons. (If anyone here plays Fallout: New Vegas, and played Old World Blues, they looked like the hexcrete structures near the X-13 building.) This city was not like the city I was in on the 1st level. It was crumbling, like in Inception, and a dark storm had taken over the sky. I was eventually dropped (this was not some sort of "pick-up midway through" thing either, I vividly remember materializing at the start of the dream) in an apartment near the top of one of these buildings. Once materialized, I recalled what this DC said, that this was a dream, and I actually gained real lucidity from this! In a dream within a non-lucid dream! I immediately began to rub my hands to stabilize, and once I fully settled down, I instictively went to the bathroom of the apartment. I pressed a button on the wall near the mirror, and up from the ground came sliding a wall full of guns. Whatever was destroying this dream city, I was about to fight. Nice guns, too. H&K 416s, M-4s, etc. I immedietly began stuffing them in the nearby duffel bag.
After I packed as many as I could put in the bag, I went back to the kitchen to see if there was any food or other supplies that could aid me in battle. However, something was different. On the table lay something of dear importance to me. What it was, I don't know, it was just...something. The kind of thing that gives you that rush of emotion when you encounter them in dreams, know what I mean? I have no idea what it was, though. Looking back, the memory is like looking through a scotoma. What could it mean? Is it something my subconscious wants to reveal, but I am not ready to witness it yet? Any ideas? Whatever it was, it made me stop for a few minutes to contemplate it (I may have been slipping back into non-lucidity at this point). I just sat at the table, looking at this...thing, and looking out the window as the city crumbled. Eventually my building crumbled...
I then woke up back into the 1st dream level (still non-lucid), in this warehouse, but the DC was gone. I slipped the IV out, got up, and went back to walking down the street, as if nothing happened. This dream then faded...
Interestingly, later in the night I also had a seperate false awakening. My mind must have just gotten into some sort of other mode or something.:D And, in case you couldn't tell, I recently watched Inception (last night).
Pretty interesting experience, huh? Anyone else ever had lucidity within non-lucidity? Or a DC induce them into lucidity by telling them that they were in a dream? And what was this whole hidden thing of importance? Why the guns, too? Will I need to use them later if I ever return to this world and finish whatever business was started last night?
