Lucid dreaming frequency

A question to you who have been lucid dreaming for a while: How frequently did you do it in the beginning? I had my first lucid dream (that I can remember) about a month ago (didn't post about it though. I intended to but never did it) and had three (one very short and two a little longer) in a few days but I haven't had any since then (that I remember at least).

And to any newbie (like me) reading this: I can really recommend a digital watch as a reality check. That was how I had my first lucid dream. I looked at it and thought it was to early to be so dark and it changed before my eyes.

I think that for start you have to find a technique that works for you. After having my first 3 or 4 lucid dreams i had a dry period without lucidity. I found that the problem was that i was trying different methods every night. Now i am using wake-back to bed method combined with MILD and i have a lucid dream almost every time :D . Find a technique that works For you and focus on it, when you are ready you will try other tecniques with confidence. Also, do meditation and mental exercises. It really helps.

I only use reality checks at the moment. Most techniques seem to require deep relaxation (which I'm terrible at) or going back to sleep after waking up and once I wake up I'm usually late for something. I'll try this weekend with MILD or whatever it is.

Although I haven't been doing that intentionally, my last few LDs have been a result of waking up and going back to sleep. I never really thought about it much even though I've seen it mentioned several times but this time it just clicked. Thanks adroid....that helps clear up a few things for me.

My first LD was probably 4 years ago, and ive had maybe 12 total, so thats not that frequent

I have cool, vivid dreams a lot though..., almost every night

what is MILD or WILD?

MILD = Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream - You tell yourself as you are falling asleep that you will have a lucid dream. Repeated as you fall asleep

WILD = Wake Induced Lucid Dream - You wake up early, stay active for a little while, then lay back down and enter a lucid dream directly from the waking state.

WILD seems to work for the majority of lucid dreamers!

At first (about nine years ago) I was having 2 or 3 LDs per week, then they gradually increased. I think that because I started to expect them, they began to happen automatically and somehow, I have learned to induce them subconsciously. Now I usually have at least one each time I fall asleep. As fer a reality check, I usually fly or do something "superhuman" like make lightning strike, or alter my dream body...

Yeah, LC is right. Lately, I've been sacrificing my prime LD time to work on WILD.
Soon, soon....Gonna try the flying through boxes thing tonight that my fellow Chicago'an Starman suggested. :D

Everytime I go to sleep....regardless of the time-span sadly :(

Recently my LD frequency greatly improved. Every 3-4 days I get some LD. about 90 % of weekends I get at least 1 LD.

In the beginning it was like 1 LD per week or 2 weeks...

without a doubt, over the last 12 years or so of lucid dreaming, the WILD-type methods represent about 98% of my lucid experiences whereas MILD-type represents the rest. If you are really interested in pursuing the lucid dreaming world I would definitely recommend the sleep, wakeup for 30-60 minutes and back to bed- type methods for inducing a lucid dream. Even if you just wake up, then do rapid breathing, hyper-awareness-enhancing techniques (pick your flavor of the month) and then lie down.

Recently I noticed something. If you wake up alot earlier (like 3am), you will be alot more lucid the rest of the morning. When I did the "visit the Statue of Liberty" thing on Saturday morning, I had tons and tons of lucid dream the rest of the morning for like 4.5 hours. i works that well...

Having said all that based on my experiences, I would still strongly recommend meditation or awareness-heightening activities that would cause you to be alot more aware during the entire night, thus increasing the probabilities of MILD type LD. Reference kung-fu masters, daoist monks and buddhist monks who claim to be 100% awake all the time, even during sleep. The essence of buddhism is to "wake up" from the slumber of normal life. I'm not buddhist but that statement totally makes sense to me.

they have definitely increased exponentially for me. when i got my first about 5 years ago it was by accident. they slowly started coming after that. now, i just do it whenever i want. i've read a lot of people say they do tests to make sure they're dreaming. i guess i'm different in that area. i know im dreaming immediately, i've never done a test. lately i've also become aware of my physical self. i can hear conversations going on or feel things around me and stay in my lucid state.

That is pretty cool lucidreality, but doesn't it disturb you dream at all?

Also, intent, when you say waking up at 3 in the morning, how many hours of sleep are you refering to? I generally sleep at 1 or 2, but I don't think you mean 2 hours of sleep....

I am not a budhist either, but many of their concepts really interest me. The one you metioned is pretty intriguing, and the whole enlightenment concept is pretty interesting too. I do believe that is the ultimate goal in life, some sort of complete spiritual realization, instead of working to have money you entire life, as they have erroneuosly taught us...

I have had 6 lucid dreams in 3 months. Obviously, I want to increase this. Personally, I wake up at 5am on a Sunday morning, then go back to sleep. I have always had a lucid dream when this happens.

Have any of you known the dreamguide to be a relation (I think mine is my brother; he reminds me to become lucid) ? Is this plausible?

When I was younger it was so normal for me to be Lucid in a dream that I thought everyone done it. It was an every night thing for me as a young lad. But when I realized it wasn't really normal for everyone then I thought I had some serious issues..(No Actually I thought I was the Golden Child) Haha! I know .... I know.. Laugh if you will. But seriously I thought I was special Until My Mother told me that she does the same thing. I was like Damn! Now I pretty much control it VIA MILD. Sometimes I want to just have a normal dream.
