Never. Give. Up.
That is the one rule, and all the advice I can give personally. I must ask, though, how long have you been trying?
And just so you don't think I'm just saying stuff, I know what it's like to have no luck... I've had 2.5 LDs so far, but I haven't had any in three weeks. It's getting annoying, but I will not give up.
Don't give up but might I suggest 'letting go'? Just do some awareness exercises and reality checks as usual, you could read a LD book or something on the forum a little while before bed if you like but, when it comes time for bed just go to sleep and enjoy a good nights rest all the way through. Take a few days off of the pressing for a LD and just get some sleep. There are good odds on you having a LD during this 'off period'.
Oh and you shouldn't tell yourself that you " can't ". I believe (by the sounds of what youve been doing) you will have a LD very soon but, by saying you can't you admit defeat and this can have very strong affect on you mentally and hinder your progress greatly. Put some faith in yourself and accept that not all things come right away.
YOU WILL BECOME LUCID SOONER OR LATER
Sounds like you're trying to hard. Lucid dreaming usually comes at times when you're most in tune and not trying so desperately to force it. The longest run Ive had was when I stopped coming to this site. I just relaxed and lived my life, with dreams always being an important part of each and every day. Up until the past few months the longest gap between LD's would be a month. And that would usually be when I had a lot of things on my mind.
Thanks guys ill try that.
Out of curiosity, how long have you been training for lucidity?
Trying at least a month. Seriously training.. Maybe a 3 weeks.
First off I think 6 is too long. I think at that point you may have already missed your peak opportunity. If you do wake up at 6 hours i reccomend only staying awake a half hour or less. But if 5 doesnt even work, I would try four. Sleeping four hours and then staying awake for 60-90 minutes has brought me an average success rate of 90%.Quote:

Bit hard for me to stay up for a bunch of time in the middle of the night because im in High school. However, I shall try it for this week because its thanksgiving break. Thanks for the tip!
man when I WILD it's so hard for me not to fall asleep. LUCKY (j/k)
I haven't wilded even once. Fall asleep a lot.
Hey mate. I wouldn't stress too much 4 weeks isn't alot of time compared to how long it has taken some others. How good is your dream recall? WBTB is probably the best technique to try first. I my self find WILD extremely hard. But as someone suggested earlier in the topic reduce the amount of sleep you have 4 hours, get up do something, then go back to bed. Your body won't be restored from 4 hours sleep so you should fall asleep pretty fast. Best suggestion I can give you is just get your recall as good as you can. If you have excellent recall the lucids will come.
My dream recall is extremely good. I have had a DJ since 8 years old!
I got so used to remembering dreams that I got so good at it.
Have you experimented with all the techniques? I suggest HILD.

I got really far using your technique! Thats the best one I have seen yet (for me at least). I had some success and I was getting really close to sleep but I wasn't tired enough. Im going to try it again tonight.
