First Lucid... but having trouble.
So I had my first Lucid Dream last night, at least, I think I did. Prior to it, all that I had done was wake up at around 5 in the morning and gone back to sleep, thinking about using FILD but I don't think I ever got around to it.
Then I found myself doing a nose RC, standing in my room. I could breath through my nose, so i was like, 'Hey, this is a dream!'. I walked around my room for a while and made the dream more realistic, yelling "CLARITY NOW!" and rubbing my hands together. I can only assume this worked, as my room looked as realistic as ever. I then tried to make a sword appear. Nothing happened. So I decided I'd start simple and looked at my hand, telling myself I could see through it. Well, I couldn't, and then I came to the sudden conclusion that I'm too used to pretending, rather than actually knowing it's there. I walked around the room for a while longer before waking up. I sort of deduced that my experience was sort of boring.
As with most first timers, I have a few questions. First of all, is it possible to dream you're LDing, but not actually be Lucid Dreaming? It makes little sense, I know, but that's what the dream felt like when I woke up. Also, is it possible for your subconcious to tell you what you're doing wrong? Like when the sword didn't appear, I felt this little voice in the back of my mind (well, it was more large voice in the front) tell me that I didn't believe enough for it to work. Same thing with the pretending.

Yes - and I still consider it to be LDing because you DO realize you're dreaming, even if it's within a false awakening.
Actually I did this exact thing last night. I realized that I was dreaming and didn't like the way the dream was going so I decided to wake myself up. So I woke up and did an RC - I compared two digital clocks which both read the same time. So I figured I must be awake. Somewhere along the line, I lost the lucidity and went along dreaming about the same thing I was before I woke myself up. I realize afterwards that I had a FA.

Well, I guess it's possible since you did it! Remember, everyone is different so we all have different experiences. I think it's pretty cool that you were telling yourself what you were doing wrong and how to fix it. That implies you were more lucid than you think, and you were trying to problem-solve. Keep up the great work! :)
