Try not to let stories of my experiences get to you so easily. I doubt this kind of thing is common and I haven't seen much of it on the forums except for false awakenings, which are quite a bit different. Don't let it hold you back from attempting to lucid dream, I'm still continuing to try and lucid dream so that I can see if it occurs after them especially. I'll tell you now that it has scared me beyond belief, there's times at night when I'm afraid to go to sleep due to what I might wake up to. Not much I can really do about it though. If it happens then I just have to let it happen.
yeah, after much thinking and pondering, I mentally prepared myself for anything I may experience hallucination or false-awakening wise... sorry if that offended you, I'm sure it must have been really scary.
Hah, don't worry about it. Didn't offend me at all. As long as you can keep telling yourself "It's not real" then you'll be fine. It was the scariest thing I have witnessed, yes, but at least now I know that terror hopefully won't come over me again if I expect it. It's the realism of the hallucination that bothers me.
im sure it must. but mayb you could make a fun situation out of it somehow? like throw a pillow at her head or somhting wierd... tell her a joke? id b willing to experiment with somthing like that if i was able to get over the initial fear of it.
I actually thought to myself a few hours ago that if it does happen again, throwing something at her would either A) Piss her off or B) Be somewhat funny after she's gone. If I can hallucinate her being there, I can sure as hell hallucinate her moving, doing stuff etc. It's not one of those moments where you do stuff, the only thing you want is for her to be gone as soon as possible. Like I said, describing her is hard. If you've seen "The Ring" that's as close a description that I can really give, she looks...pale, really pale. Short black hair covering most of her face, a torn nighty that looks old and worn out. It's one of the most horrific images I can picture within my head to this very day. If I can ever get over the fear of her, I'll attempt to experiment, but fact is that she wasn't really expected, If I see her again it'll be by surprise, especially as I usually wake up every day and get out of bed to go downstairs, I sure as hell won't be prepared or have any sort of plan. My main aim is to find out the reasons as to WHY I see her.
Honestly I dont think there is a reason why...
As previously mentioned, the mind is a mysterious thing. I doubt that it's anything you are intentionally doing, or even un-intentioanally doing... I think it is merely a compiling of things from your brain that happened about at a given time that where shown in a hypnagogic hallucination after you awoke. Sure I say that, but I've never hallucinated anything after waking up.
she is a victim of yours from a life long gone,
she forgives you and your fear shows you understand.
just a thought.
Well, I had a lucid dream last night. Very odd to be honest, I had stopped doing my RCs and lost motivation again, and BAM, lucid dream out of nowhere. Seems that the country of Kuwait is a bit of an RC for me too....both times that I've become lucid now involved my Dad's job in Kuwait somehow. I won't go into detail about the dream, but it was pretty cool, I did certain things to my will, and messed about a bit. I couldn't make a chair leg snap though, that sucked. Long story short, I was at a high level of lucidity, It had only just hit me how realistic dreams actually were.
First, I'll explain how I became lucid. I was walking into an airport for a flight back, heading back from Kuwait (I remember the whole dream before this, but do not really feel like it is of any importance) where I was explaining to my Mom that infact, I could NOT remember the flight to Kuwait whatsoever, nor the hotel, nor anything before. She kind of walked a bit infront and this man was next to me. He simply laughed at me. I'm not joking, he just laughed in a semi-evil way. The laugh was basically saying "Haha, how the HELL have you not realised you're dreaming yet?" He didn't say anything, simply laughed after he overheard my conversation, and there it was, I was lucid. So I did a reality check, and sure enough, I could breathe with my nose pinched.
Now, the crowd seemed to kind of fade away and get very busy, but for a moment I was sure this old dude laughing at me was my dream guide, don't ask why. But I didn't bother trying to search for him among the large crowd. After this, the dream kind of went along as it wanted, I occasionally interefered, but my main focus was to keep it going on for a long as possible. I did extremely well in my personal opinion, shouting things such as "Increase lucidity" and even creating light in a dark room out of nothing, it was awesome.
I know the post lacks detail of the dream, but that's not the point. I remember half way through my dream, dreading when I would wake up, because I was fairly certain that the damn girl would be there again. I kind of prepared myself for it, within the dream. Anyhow, as the dream came to an end, I found myself staring at the black space again, I was definately concious and awake, I just had to open my eyes, and I did. Just like that, I was in my room, there was NOONE else there, I was so relieved. I find it quite odd that I only seem to have lucid dreams when I don't try to. Infact, it's quite annoying. Just thought the update would be good for those interested.
Interesting, I wonder why she wasn't there this time...
I think the same thing. The Lucid dream I had yesterday was at about 2.30 - 3.50 PM (Yes, I slept all day...) At 2.30 PM for when I had set my alarm, I woke up and laid in bed, I wasn't tired at all, but managed to somehow fall asleep again, that's when the lucid dream happened, I woke up with really heavy eyelids. It was a great experience this time, I could experiment with the lucid dream a great deal rather than my last one which was really damn short.
You said your dad had a similar experience? Dude, your house might be haunted. =X
Hah Riff. It's even more odd knowing that my friends grandmother died in this house before we bought it. But I don't believe in ghosts, so no! :)
Wow...
I read your first post, and when you discribed the little girl, a single picture snapped into my head...
http://theborggaming.planet-multipla.../fear_alma.jpg
Her name is Alma, and is the "bad guy" in a PC game called F.E.A.R. It sounds like she's the one you're discribing. Just thought I'd throw that out there, hope nobody minds me posting this :content:
You won't believe the feeling that came into me once that picture had loaded. I've never played that game before but I think i've seen it in the shops. She looks completely similar except the girl I see has shorter hair.
Wow man, thats disturbing. Thats the face that always pops up in my head when its really dark or when Im alone... Ive never even heard of that game, lol.
I found it pretty funny that she rushed towards you and said hiya!!!!!!!
Evil and yet friendly.
Interesting post and I enjoyed your most recent LD experience alot too.
To be honest I hope I can reach that level of lucidity one day.
Mine seem to fade in and out so I was very impressed to read how well you handled yourself in that LD. I never even thought to do another reality check once I had realised I was dreaming. LOL.
Anyway back to the point, I would be interested to read what happens if you ever experience this again, and yeah I enjoyed the post alot.
Good luck and safe travels.

Alright, some updates.
2 Lucid dreams last night, that's right 2. You won't believe how happy I am that my efforts are actually working this time.
The 1st dream was a DILD, very confusing. Don't remember all of it. Basically, me and a couple friends were having fun in a helicopter, taking turns in flying it. When all of a sudden, I think to myself "Wait a minute, none of us know how to fly a helicopter, this is risking our lives." It suddenly came to me that there was no way I'd risk my life doing something this stupid. Bam, lucid. Well..almost lucid. It was really weird, I knew I was lucid, but my mindframe was different, it is hard to explain. So one of my DC friends was just about to fly the helicopter...when I sort of said to him
"What happens when we crash?"
"We won't crash." Was his reply.
"But say for instance, that we do, what happens?" I was trying to kind of mess with the DCs head to make him realise he would die.
"We won't crash, I'm too good at flying helicopters" His ignorant response.
"Let's say hypothetically"
"We won't crash" This was typical of the friend that the DC was, never admits he's bad at something.
Anyhow, shortly after this I lost lucidity, it was very short which is kind of annoying.
I then remember another dream later during the night, I was in my room with a few of my friends, the sun shining through the window, socialising with them. At this point, I woke up, still very tired, realising I was just having that dream. I just think "I was dreaming just then, quick, get back to it". I closed my eyes and went straight into the dream, completely lucid. I managed to have a WILD, I have no idea how that happened. It was the exact same dream as before I had woken up, completely continued from where it had left off. What amazed me yet again was the realism of this dream, It was identical to real life, I could feel the sun on my skin, and it was hot. The realism of LDs really is shocking once I had experienced one, I never thought any of you were so truthful about it, although this may be due to the fact that I went for the old "Increase Lucidity" trick, my DCs thought I was nuts. So I got up, and left the room and walked downstairs. By this time, I just woke up completely, which also, was very annoying. I suppose I can be glad I've pulled off a WILD and had 2 LDs in one night. I'm quite proud although they were kind of useless unlike the one I had a few nights ago. You'll also be proud to hear, not one appearance of that girl. Woohoo, I can LD without the consequences...for the moment.
I can just say: Way to go! ^^
