My first WILD and my strange technique to acheive it
Hey!
I have been a DILDer for about 4 years now, and always struggled to perfectly execute a WILD, until last night.
It came to me out of the blue using a very strange technique, but I am pretty confident I have figured something pretty interesting out here.
Before I went to sleep, I started thinking about all the tasks I was supposed to acheve that day.. and it got the better of me and I stressed out just a little. You know that feeling you get when you have a bunch of little tasks that all amount up, and you can't comprehend them all as a whole anymore, so you go "argh" and have a little mental blank? I thought this was a very interesting state to get in, so I put myself into that again.... I did this for a few minutes and realised I could induce this kind of mindset without actually having anything to stress about.. sort of a meditation.... but where your mind is so overwhelmed with information that you draw an (uncomfortable) blank....
I didn't think much of it and continued to go to sleep.
I awoke in the middle of one of my REM period and for some reason decided to experiment with this feeling again.... I flooded my tired brain with trivial tasks until I couldn't think, doing this while I was trying to sleep, and to my absolutey joy, zoomed warp speed straight into a perfect lucid dream where I was completely conscious and aware.
It was like I went from my bed fast forward to a upright standing position in a new location, it was amazing! I had a good 5 minutes in this dream state before I woke up... at which stage I repeated the process and went straight back into another, then another! I did this 4 times and each time I had the most vivid lucid dreams I have yet to have.
So, now I am trying to put two and two together... why did this process of forcing myself to get into a stressed state inject me headfirst into something that is usually so difficult to achieve?
One quick little answer I thought off is the studies that show that brain activity in the REM state is similar to that of when people try to think in a metaphorical sense. There are a group of people called the Human Givens who claim that the REM state is the brains way of sorting out issues from the previous day in a metaphorical sense... sounds valid right? So perhaps flooding my brain in this way injects me into this relm while the part of my brain keeping things real, not metaphorical, stays alert....
I have to do some more experiments with myself before I can get a good answer, but I am pretty confident that I have figured out something pretty neat!
I am interested to know if anyone out there has any experience with anything similar, specifically using stress or excitment, and what their thoughts might be on this.
I can't wait to go to sleep tonight :)

I WILD maybe 90% of the time and never new it..
Since I can remember I have Wake Induced Lucid Dreams to counter a condition I had as a child of dreaming whatever I drew. Thanks to this forum I now know what has been going on all these 35 years and counting.
Basically I would dream before going to sleep fully and it would be a nightmare of sorts created from things I drew as a kid. To stop this I learned at a young age to distinguish a dream from reality and take control.
I would be in dream that was starting to go bad and I would pause the dream like a VCR and change the outcome by creating some nicer situation just to sleep at night. Normally it would be some tranquil meadow or water deal and I use to call this my "Happy Space".
I have been doing this since I was about 12 and I am 47 now. After all these years it caused one weird by product that I have used for years in my profession as an engineer. My of my shared patents working for Black & Decker and Bell Labs have come from seeding my dreams before sleeping with problems to be solved just to wake with the answers. I would quickly write them down before I lost most or all of the answers or designs in my case.
For years now I have traveled the world by flying like superman, feeling and tasting food from all over and done amazing things in my dreams on purpose. I have played out many fantasies at will by seeding my mind before going to sleep of whatever I wanted for that night. I never watch horror movies or that night would become real to me in my dream which is a curse really.
My latest business was started by an invention created in my dreams one night on purpose from seeding my mind before sleeping about the subject.
Thanks again for helping me to know I am not alone in this skill or curse depending on how you look at it.
