The definition of religion is the belief in a supernatural all being (God, Gods)
You = Religious.
You may not agree with other religions, but by definition you are religious.
I don't think it's fair you get to preach to everyone about what they should do spiritually in dreams either.
Well, i think that your definition is somewhat wrong. You don't have to be religious to believe in God. Religious means that you follow and practice a certain religion.
I myself believe in a God or some higher power/consciousness, but i don't really relate to any religion or belief. Maybe Buddhist philosophy but that's about it.
I would consider myself spiritual however. Rather than finding God in the afterlife, I try to connect to higher consciousness right now through different means (ethogens, meditation, lucid dreaming etc)
But back to OP's warning. I would really consider what he/she is trying to tell us.
He's not saying Lucid dreaming is bad but that we should be careful of what we do in our dreams. We don't really know what dreaming could be. Maybe God is trying to communicate with us and warn us of danger in our lives or maybe dreaming is just our brain sorting through daily information.
We can't really be too sure of what science says about dreaming. Sure it's more structured and logical but it's also biased on the perspective of researcher and the listener. Now accounts of premonition and prophesies in dreams are also biased on one's perception.
Everyone has a different perspective of what dreaming or ,reality for that matter, is. You can't really tell what a truth is. Nor can you really say what is real and what is just your mind playing tricks on you. 'Cause really your mind creates your reality. And that reality and perception is influenced by personal beliefs.
I treat dream realm as a higher plane or an alternative reality, and my dreams feel as such because of ideas that influenced me.
So Judge's idea is his perspective of any danger in Lucid dreaming. Maybe its true.
But I guess just be wary of anyone's idea; don't consider it completely false or completely true.
yeah I waked and baked today so you probably should disregard this :P
I'm not trying to sound rude...
But I think the reason a lot of people are agitated about the thread, is because you left out a big fat "In My Opinion"..
It sounds like your stating a series of facts... But that's just my opinion so.. :cheeky:
So, according to your opinion, what would the, uhm, evil forces do to someone who actually tried to kill God in an LD, and who, beside that, murdered raped and so on dream characters?
Actually I'm not quite sure that's true. But the definitions seems to be all over the place, but I'd think the general idea would be this:Quote:
Religious means that you follow and practice a certain religion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_belief
Or, more precisely:
Sorry for the quoting ^^Quote:
Religious belief refers to a mental state in which faith is placed in a creed related to the supernatural, sacred, or divine. Such a state may relate to the existence, characteristics and worship of a deity or deities, divine intervention in the universe and human life, or values and practices centered on the teachings of a spiritual leader. In contrast to other belief systems, religious beliefs are usually codified.[citation needed]
While the term religious belief is often considered to have the same meaning as religion, the latter term usually deals with both ideas and practices. Religious belief can be seen as a focus exclusively on ideas.
I might be reading it the wrong way though, as it does state it is placed in a creed :P Other definitions simply state that it's merely faith in some sort of deity.
OH well. Maybe the Oxford english dictionary would be of help, sadly I don't own it :P
Anyways,
Yes, I think this is very much it. Sounds like you're giving a warning to everyone like it's a 100% set in stone :P You start off saying that lucid dreams will never fully be grasped, then continue to talk about some of the most far fetched ideas of how dreaming actually works.Quote:

Phht. Who hasn't tried to kill God once or twice?Quote:

I understand the actual definition of Religion, If you had read through I've explained this, I simply say that because it's annoying explaining I say i'm not religions because I follow no religion, and then having to explain that, and blah blah blah, it is so much simpler to just say, I don't believe in religion, I believe in God.
I get what your saying, the real issue is, I posted something to do with God. I won't say this is my opinion, these are my beliefs, my views, and I think whether I state that specifically or not, that is a given I would think...
Idk, I have no experience or knowledge of someone doing that.. they probably wouldn't bother you much... but then again, I have no knowledge of that.
Dreams are based on beliefs. Anything you believe in will manifest in your dreams. If you believe in angels and demons, you will dream about them. If you believe in alternate dimensions, or energy beings, or Castaneda's B.S., you will dream about it. Any warnings, like these, are only planting nasty ideas in peoples heads. If your mom is having horrifying, messed up dreams, it is because she believes in horrifying, messed up things. Tell her to own up to her own perverted thoughts, and stop trying to bring other people down with her.
Holidays are not the only thing that comes from "Pagan" traditions. The majority of the content in the bible is plagiarized from religions which predate Christianity. There were countless religions and mystery cults floating around at the time that had very similar mythology, rituals, and teachings. This is no secret. Anyone with any knowledge of ancient religions will tell you this. By the time the bible was scrapped together, the life, death, and teachings of Jesus had already been converted to the standardized, generic mythology of the time. Of course, this is assuming a man named Jesus actually walked the earth. It is more logical that the entire character was just invented to fill the role.
And again, I understand the actual definition of Religion, If you had read through I've explained this, I simply say that because it's annoying explaining I say i'm not religions because I follow no religion, and then having to explain that, and blah blah blah, it is so much simpler to just say, I don't believe in religion, I believe in God. and once again, I get what your saying, the real issue is, I posted something to do with God. I won't say this is my opinion, these are my beliefs, and my views, and I think whether I state that specifically or not, that is a given I would think... People have the choice to believe what they want to believe, it's not my fault most people are to simple minded to question things they read. But then again, I've been questioned quite thoroughly, and as much as everyone has tried, I still stand true. I could have said something similar as this, but not mentioned God, and spirituality, and no one would have said shit. These are my views, take it or leave it.
And these are your opinions, we can argue dreams, and Religion all damn day, but the fact of the matter is, no body really knows.
I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, I was just wondering about the exact definition as I'm not even a 100% sure on it myself :)
Okay, but essentially it is just another person forcing their beliefs onto us regarding something that has no proof of existing, and probably doesn't. By the way, don't ever spawn DCs into your dreams. Because the evil might suck the real people into the dream world and then you'll never see them again!
Oh, and when God is by your side because he has nothing better to do then cuddle you when you get scared in your nightmares, tell him to change his wardrobe. Bathrobe is such a dated look.
I'm going to spend the next few months doing my very best to cause evil in my dreams now. Thanks for the awesome idea!
It's fine, as you can see I've been being badgered here, and I have major anxiety problems already as is. I don't mean to come off so bold, it's just the only way anyone will shut up >.> I've explained the same thing, idk, ten times in one post? But really, the actual definition of it, nobody looks at it that way anymore, these people are just trying to squander anything they possibly can out of what I've said. The modern view on the word Religion, and religious, would mean that I belong to a religion, even though that is not the technical definition, so I simply say, I believe in God, not religion.
Wow, I in no way forced this, you can choose to read it or not, I'm simply posting my view on this all, but good job making yourself look like an ass hole. :bravo:
Sorry for being a grammar Nazi, but i do believe it is Asshole, sir.
You set yourself up for this, and one other thing. If you have such "Anxiety" then why not just leave the post the hell alone?
Your just giving us more Dream goals and feeding the fire.
I have actually shaved "god"'s beard once, with my sword, i may have swung a little to deep though, i cut clean through. Was a hell of an experience though
Wow, this thread is popular.
I agree with robot-butler, in my opinion.
Don't stress, Judge. The reason so many people are replying, is because they were stirred by your original post, and want to talk about this. That is a good thing. No reason to get upset, or assume others are upset. I'm sure nobody means to attack you, personally. In case nobody ever told you, religion is a VERY HOT TOPIC! It is fun to discuss.
I second this course of action. :evil:Quote:

Yeah, my bad.
I'm going to add nothing of value to this thread other than to remind people about how to use the multi-quote function of the forums. At the bottom of each post, there are words that say "Edit post" "Reply" "Reply with quote."
Then, there's this funny looking little box with a quote symbol and a + sign. You can click that box on each post you want to reply to on multiple pages, then hit the "+ Reply to Thread" button at the bottom.... it will automatically load all the posts for you that you want to respond to... then you can make one nice, neat little entry instead of the triple-spam... which just looks like spamming.
Good day!
As a bonus, it keeps you from mixing up peoples' names. Fancy that.
You make me giggle, Sam
I believe we are getting further and further off-topic and heated. This thread should be locked in my opinion.
Judge is new here, cut him some slack :P
