There are also cults, which can be a more extreme example. Anything that becomes twisted is simply no longer wisdom. That's why you have to know what you're talking about and find good teachers/sources; if you call that a study then great. The point is, if it is wisdom then it lasts forever because it is founded on truth.
I doubt you could find that wisdom from statistics, because in order to find those stats valuable you first have to, again, understand what they are supposed to mean. Maybe you give me an example of the value in the spiritual statistics?
But how cannot spiritual research or a scientific study be twisted also? You realize there are many different sided arguments that people call "science", on pretty much any topic. You can indeed throw layers of lies, assumptions, mistakes, ignorances on top too, that is, if the research/method is bad. When something is proven, you can't really throw lies on top as easy. I don't know if I really need to be saying this.
