I've noticed that most of your belief is sourced from a Protestant themed view of the Bible. I was also raised/schooled with similiar views. As I grew older, I noticed that logic became increasingly more difficult to apply towards what I was taught. However, I didn't abandon my faith...instead I did my best to justify my beliefs by adjusting/editing some of the things that I was taught. But of course, the more you do this the furthur you become from the source of your beliefs.
There comes a point where you realize that all of your apologetics are merely personal constructs to defend something that you really want to believe in.
I comprehend your reaction. The Bible sets forth some basic doctrines and principles. Everything else has to be examined in light of these. The extrapolations will likely fall in line with your source. Sometimes even, the error lies in interpreting the scriptures or the record of nature. The most appealing facets of this faith is that it explains the origins of the Universe, this Earth and all its life, how humans achieve so much yet problems persist, but most importantly the redemption provided. Free will exists, yet the future is already resolved.
