Christianity at it best.

Haha, I like this one, where they try to claim that Humans and dinosaurs co-existed AND that dinosaurs were on "Noah's ark". That's rich.
Lol!!!!!1!1!!!
I don't take the bible literally, I take it figuratively. I also think that certain other religions, at their core, lead to the same place. (unless they lead you in the opposite direction, there are only two ways to go). that is, you can be "saved" if you come to the truth through buddhism (or any other religion with the message of selflessness) just the same as you can through the message of Jesus.
Those comics scare me.
I love the irony.
This would be a good topic to start. Because what you are saying is that truth is relative and not absolute (at least that is what I gather) But yet at the same time you state that man can be "saved" and that it can happen through different religions, but yet that opens the door that anyone can create a "religion" and be "saved"
Who is doing the saving? Who decides what counts as being saved or not? I am interested in topics like this that aren't simple "is there a god?" so please start a topic and maybe copy and paste my post in or something.
was that a reply to my post, jassum?
Yeah, sorry I am bad at the quote button sometimes :)
http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=43746 here you go, enjoy :)
I really don't understand how people like this could really believe that not accepting Jesus will send you to hell. A person lives a good life, never gets the opportunity to hear about Christ and receives eternal damnation. I really don't get it.
:rolllaugh: Hilarious!
This one is my favorite. http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0011/0011_01.asp
I'm a satanist. I don't poison candy and give it out to children on halloween, or even have the desire to. those people in the comic aren't satanists. they're unenlightened people, people who have trusted in some doctrine instead of the one and only ultimate truth, which is that you can't know everything (which means you are not everything, which means basically that you must acknowledge and respect others.) killing people is not respecting them.
I explain all of that in the thread I made about all religions leading to the same place, here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=43746
basically, God and Satan are the same thing, but because of misconception, people associate God more with love and Satan more with hate. you must have both to live, to have awareness. you can't have light without darkness also. what I "worship" is both of these things, an equal balance of selfishness and selflessness. I've only chosen to call this "dichotomy" (is that an accurate word to describe it?) Satan for personal reasons, that I explain in the thread I made. but to respect others, I call it "God" or "the ultimate truth" according to what whoever I talk to believes, since it's the same thing really, and offending them (they shouldn't get offended but inevitably will because of misconception) would be good for neither of us.
oh, and yes I believe in Jesus, but I believe he was just a man. he was a man that understood the ultimate truth, or that had God in him, or, you could even say he had Satan in him, if that's what you choose to call it. anyway, this made him "divine", it made him god-like, since he had the ultimate truth, he was all-knowing and could apply this to his life. I understand the ultimate truth, which makes me "divine" as well, or put in another sense, I have the Holy Spirit in me and I am Christ-like, or in another sense, I'm a god (or probably a "demi-god"). having said that, I mean, having just pretty much called myself a god, that doesn't mean I think I'm better than or above other people. quite the contrary, I understand that my existence depends on them, and have a deep respect for them. because I understand the ultimate truth, which is that I can't know everything. that means I know all there is to know, I'm all-knowing (all as in all there is to know, not all as in everything entirely). you can understand that too, right? I hope so because I don't want people to misunderstand the whole calling myself a god thing, I do hesitate to say it because I know it can give people the wrong idea. it isn't holding myself in high regard, it's holding myself and others in equal regard. respect for all living things including but definitely not limited to myself.
cool, I was just wondering, because I know a few "Satanists" who don't believe that the Christian(or any for that matter) God exists.
Doesn't he/her/it have to exist for Satan to exist? Or am I misinformed?
you are. I did say light can only exist if there is darkness, which means darkness can only exist if there is light. they both had to exist at the exact same time. they are both absolutely necassary for anything to exist.
I believe in the necessity of both of these, of both selfishness (darkness) and selflessness (light). a perfectly equal amount. that means taking care of others but not forgetting to take care of myself in the process. if I hurt, it will hurt someone who loves me, so I must not hurt. I must look after my own well-being as well as the well being of others.
think about this:
if selfishness were the first thing to ever exist, and that is all there was at first, nothing could ever be. this is because the thing would be completely selfish and introverted, and could not acknowledge anything else. it would be the only one thing that existed and therefore nothingness itself.
if selflessness were the first thing to exist, it would acknowledge an other, in order to do that it must also be aware of itself. this means that selflessness includes selfishness! in order to be TRULY selfless, you must be 50% selfish, because if you suffer the other also suffers.
if there were only 100% selflessness, it would forget about itself when acknowledging others, which would lead to it's destruction.
in conclusion: 50% selfishness and 50% selflessness is not only ideal but necessary for all of existence. 100% of either is destructive, counter-productive, ultimately ending in absolute nothingness.

and this isn't something I just made up, it's not something I just thought up after smoking a lot of weed or something. it's just an understanding I slowly came to, it makes perfect since. and it works, I know it works because I've applied it to my life and used it to help not only myself but others. I don't suffer anymore. I'm very happy, as happy as any human can possibly be. I used to be a very pathetic and needy individual, now all of my energy goes to taking care of and helping others (and also myself). and I have to help others, I have to make them aware too so I can continue to exist, so they can exist and continue to exist, because that's what existence IS, awareness. I know good and well that I could be wrong, but so far no one has given me any reasonable evidence that proves it all wrong. it has helped me and others, why stop?
also, everything leads to this! every true religion at it's core, and I say true religion as opposed to fake religions that are a bunch of shit made up and pushed on people to get their money (like maybe the mormons or scientology? I don't know enough about either to say that, but that's based on what I have heard about those two "religions") even science teaches this. actually it is probably more scientific than anything, but all religions at their core LEAD to this understanding as well. science teaches survival, by taking care of yourself and others. christianity teaches love, which is selflessness, but (on the surface) it leans too far on selflessness if you ask me. satanism teaches hate, which is selfishness, which is indeed necessary, but I think at it's core it teaches true love. true love as in true selflessness, which is an equal amount of both. (if you read the satanic bible, there are passages that explain how to live where you are happy but do not harm others.) it just leans too much on selfishness, on the surface.
so those satanists you speak of are not true satanists, but rather misguided people who only think they are satanists. they're satanists based on what it appears to be on the surface, not what it truly is. logic tells us that pure selfishness and disregard for others is destructive. why would anyone embrace it?
A common misconception. Only a percent of Christians believe that. I am christian, and I don't even believe in hell. The bible is a big metaphore, I don't get why most Christians don't understand that. They try to take it literally, and they're all hypocritical idiots.Quote:
I really don't understand how people like this could really believe that not accepting Jesus will send you to hell.
Because it all being a metaphor isn't set in stone. That's very similar to being able to pick what one wants to believe, and what can be discarded as story. It would be very convenient, that much is true.
(I think the bible makes it quite clear that there will be degrees of punishment throughout. Not one punishment fits all. Is God not Just?)

"Let the way to hell, be opened. And the evil that was once vanquished, shall rise anew, and terror shall consume thee who dwell upon the earth!
The skies shall rain fire, and the seas become as blood! The righteous shall fall before the wicked and all creations shall crumble before the burning spandage of Hell.
The gate stands ready. Now rise young brother, the time has come to asume your true form. Arise Diablo - Lord of Terror. Send forth your terror, into Hell!"
- Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred
I don't necessarily think it's the majority, but unfortunately, the dumber they are, the louder they are. I can't wait to be in hell where people like this apparently don't go
Hey, didn't some college professor get fired for saying the "talking snake" shouldn't necessarily be taken literally?

I like the third to last picture where they throw in randomly...
"They are sick right snookums?"
"Yes darling."
mwuahahaha
I know this is an old thread, but I occasionally find these little propaganda pamphlets strategically placed in my area.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen them as well, and if so...what regions/city do you live?
I'm finding them in the wealthier LDS suburbs north of Salt Lake.
I don't know how often I see pamphlets, although in High School the kids used to pass them out amongst their peers. They were usually focused hate and propaganda against homos or abortions though.
Today at my campus some religious loon was hanging out with a sign that on the back said "fear God trust Jesus" and the front had a list of things he considered sinful. He mostly insulted homosexuals and said women belong in the kitchen/in the bedroom. The school's branch of whatever they call the GSA at the college level showed up and made it even funnier.
