Dream and memory expriment, possible new technique. Need test subjects, calling all DV people.

Well, I want to test the idea that the last thing you think of you dream about, or that the things before you sleep determine outcome of dream. Also I want to test a new technique however I need some people.

To do this you need a dream journel or good recall. Thats all, you don't need to know how to visualize or WILD.

So I want everyone who does this to think the same thought before they go to sleep that is, my door is open. Do this when you normally wild or attempt to lucid dream and then begin to think my door is open, repeat doing this untill you fall asleep. You have to make this as realistic as you can, that means pretending your going to get up and go and close the door, you can also imagine a door open(well this is not really needed).

Well, I hope you understand. I have noticed that I LD if I need to get up and goto school, I think it because your more alert. If you left the door open you would be extremely alert, as you would need to close it. I wonder if the stituation itself would make you lucid, also you might dream of shutting a door and this could make you lucid.

Saying that all I need to know is if people dream of a door. I once looked at my book before sleep and found it was written in the dream three times, I wonder if your dream has more doors or something or you notice them more.

Well, if you do this then tell me if you dreamt more about doors. Also post the bit with the doors in. Also, if you give up and go back to sleep then I take this as a failed attempt, however if you still dream of doors then tell me. Okay that is it, anybody?

Also don't be thinking about the consequences of the door being open, like robbers coming into your house e.t.c. Just think my door is open.

This is an original idea. I'll try it.

It seems like if you did think about the bad things that could happen if your door really were open it could help.

wendy, I'll finish reading your post when I get some sleep. I'm deprivating sleep to see what it feels like in advanced stages. Hard for me to read by now. Anyway this interests me. Usually I DILD when I fail WILDs, so it could have a connection.

I saw that what you think before falling asleep can REALLY influence your dreams. Maybe that's the reason wh yI DILD when trying WILD.

Also, the raised awareness in WILD could also be the reason.



The reverse blinking technique works with the same purpose. But I suppose yours works better. I'm gonna try it and I'll post reports.

This sounds interesting, I will see its effect tonight and then do some "training" on the long weekend.

what does reverse blinking mean? The same as what I use? the just don't blink to enter the state? More than that to it but, basics.?

usually when you think about something to dream. your dream enters an entirely different thing. Like try to dream about the beach, and you end up in the scene of a movie. Play a scary game, or watch a scary movie before bed, the more of an impact something has on you the more of a chance you are going to dream about it. Because dreams are usually organizing things you heard or learned throughout the day.

Well, I played guitar hero II for a couple hours straight, and I daydreamed about it before I went to bed, and in the dream, all those coloured notes came, as though I were playing guitar Hero....

yea, supposedly dreams are orginizing things your body filters. Like things you need to recall to your "memory" even tho you can't recal things your memory is 10 times stronger than you even can imagine. I can prove this easily. Look at the details in a dream. Now think of a person you know fondly. Try to picture them in your head and then draw them.. This is near impossible for most of us without SEEING them. Now in a dream the person is real vivid and reacting. Not only can you imagine in your mind the EXACT voice the EXACT face the EXACT attitude in a dream. Imagine being able to visualize that daily when you wanted to. To me that is why savants have the abilities they do. Their memory filter doesn't stop them from vivid recall. Now think of how powerful your mind to implicate these people and surroundings. I don't know about you but, I love the feeling of being in a dream and basically making myself feel like a trip (I've never did drugs like that) but, its all virtual. I'll summarize more of the things I feel in a profile or something

I guess I'm willing to try anything. I want to have another lucid dream. The first one was so real and freeing. I will give this a try. All I have to do is think my door is open. Sounds easy enough to me. I take this meds called Lamictal and almost a few minutes after I take it I fall asleep when I'm in a certain sleep position so I guess this can't be that hard. I'll let you know tomorrow what my results were.

To me it sounds like you're actually proposing 2 seperate mechanisms to play a part in this enhanced vividness of dreams.

1- The repeating of impressions during wake life in dreams..especially the last impression of the day.

2- Extra awareness during dreamstates due to some earthly obligation.

The first one i think (but not know) is only the case when the impression was intens, or long enough..so quantity or quality..like looking at a shocking picture before going to sleep, or playing a full day of hypnotic guitar heroes.

The second one is where i think it becomes interesting.
I've done a lot of "research / googling / whatever" about addiction.
Like sex and food, risk is a dopamine release trigger as well. This is why for example the first time coke was most probably the best. Coke blocks dopamine reuptake, and risk produces more dopamine.
The more times you take coke, the less risk/reward there is.
This is also why gambling is addicting. people are addicted to the dopamine release that gets triggered by the uncirtainty of a reward.

Anyway,..what i'm trying to say is that these people cant fantasize themselves in a way that they physically produce the same effects as a first timer,
so i dont think this can be expected to be achieved by creating a fake fear screnario either.

However..that does not mean that your theory is flawed, ..i Do think you're on to something.. days with high expectations Do make me dream a lot more intense than normal days.
I think that the way to make it work, is to create some type of russian roulette situation..
a device that can potentially desturb you, and your neighbours (social responsability is a high attention trigger)..for example..have an alarmclock set to 'wake the neighbours' and let it randomly go off somewhere within a week with a programmable timer..
although that suggestion might be a bit hard to realise for some,
i think the Key of what im trying to say is that the situation or expectation that you create (the open door) Must be real...there Must be a real chance of it happening..whatever it is.

I need more skill for my Wilding. I'm good with catching myself in dreams (dilds) but, NEVER got a good Wild. I've came close and fell into the dream But, as soon as the images appear I wake up. I tried this and no luck either. But, I will try once more so let's hope yours is the one to get me to succeed. When I sleep. I pass out I guess. I am conscience and let my mind wander and get close but, then after that I wake up.. After numerous attempts I give up and just pass out.
