Day 5: alarm didn't ring
Day 4 – June 2, 2010
Success?
No.
What happened?
I didn't set an alarm (I never do, I just rely on mantras to wake me up... and if I don't, then no big deal). I slept a dead sleep for 5.5 hours and it would have been longer had my phone not rang. I got disrupted by my night shifter, asking me why her morning reports won't send via email (we had our network access disabled yesterday, but by the sounds of it, we just had a new account created that wasn't linked to the network. I assume if she logs into the old user account that IS still linked, the emails should send out just fine?).
After we hung up, I had no recall of the previous dream (it usually gets obliterated when I get phone calls). So, nothing to DEILD to. I tried to fall back to sleep trying to incubate a dream, but that didn't work, either. I fell back to sleep and dreamed something horrible :?
Awww.. :(Quote:

Day 7: Alarm went off, I tried to DEILD but nothing happened and I just fell asleep...
meh.

Day 5 – June 3, 2010
Success?
No.
What happened?
Alarm went off at 6:30am (after the 4.5 REM period)... it actually woke me up this time (usually I wake up before it). I usually try to not set an alarm, but I've been sleeping rather heavily lately, so I wanted to make sure I would have a chance today, before the weekend. Being startled awake didn't actually kill my recall today (not horribly, anyways), and I moved a bit (I had to roll over to get my alarm). It seemed like that was going to be okay. I focused on my last dream and it seemed like it was starting to swirl into HI when my BF's phone rang... his brother was phoning us... at 6:30am. :(
Day 6: was really tired and just fell asleep after my alarm rang.
Day 8: Nothing

Day 6 – June 4, 2010
Success?
Yes.
What happened?
I chained back into the Sailor Moon dream I was having. It was unintentional again... I mean kind of. It was just like my other DEILDs. I didn't want my dream to end, so I focused on the last scene, and imagined I was back in the scene... and suddenly I truly was back in the scene.
What I noticed... I didn't move and I had a clear memory of the last scene. I didn't even think about DEILD'ing, I just thought about not wanting to end the dream yet. In fact, I thought of nothing else, other than the last scene from the dream, and getting back into it.
I didn't realize it was a DEILD until recording it this morning and I was writing, "Chained back into the dream... Oh, dude, that's a DEILD!" :P
Congratz Serenity! I have yet to chain mine..

Day 7: had too little sleep to try. was awoken about 5 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off to umpire / work a little league baseball day that ended an hour ago :|
Day 7 – June 5, 2010
Success?
Sort of…
What happened?
I remember waking up, chaining back in rather easily. I remember looking at my hands so the dream could stabilize, and woke back up again… and then passed out. This was very early in my sleep cycle… I don’t even know what time this was at.
Day 9: Feeling more comfortable waking up, but still.. no success

Day 10: A DEILD done straight from the book, but it didn't work.. I think I might be doing something wrong.

Day 8: Sorta success. I'd call it a DEID, not a DEILD, since i wasn't lucid. It ended up being about wheat thins and Global class...
Nice one, Burke :) Get the chaining down, the lucidity will get there :D I find what helps me is, while I'm focusing on the dream I just woke up from, I have this reminder going in the back of my head that this was a dream I just woke up from. Like... there was this one really great DEILD I had a few months ago that had a character present. I was chaining back into the dream to see him, and so there was that reminder in the back of my head that this scene I was chaining back into was a dream because he was there.
CV - how are your attempts going? like how is the recall of the dream you're just waking up from? Are you thinking about the DEILD as you're waking up? You have to remember the attempt, yes... but the very one thing on your mind should be the dream you just woke up from. If you don't have a very strong recollection of it, it will make it a lot harder to pull off that DEILD. I noticed that's been a problem of mine, hence I stopped using the alarm. If you absolutely must use an alarm, perhaps try to aim for one of your last REM cycles? Another tip that might help is say... time out your REM periods and then say cut the alarm 10 minutes early. So, let's say you go to bed at midnight and the REM phase you want to hit is your 6 hour mark. Try hitting the alarm for 5:50.
The other thing is too, is... I noticed in your DJ that your recall has been down lately. You may need to take a break for a week or so and build it back up again. Ideally, you should be remembering 10 dreams per week (I read that magic number in some old posts).
The thing about DEILDing that makes it both brilliant and frustrating is that... it's so damn easy, when executed proper. You're back inside this lucid dream in 30 seconds! What's frustrating is that it's a VERY tetchy technique and it's hard to nail down.
I'm in.
I finally got those Hearos total blackness glasses. They are awesome. There is a lot of light in my room and can't stop it, specially in dawn... so it was a failure guarantee for DEILD. I have my glasses finally so I can get started.
Fortunately for me (and my wife, poor thing would allow me to use my alarm if I really wanted too) I can wake up myself naturally, in fact, I always do to write down dreams so that won't be a burden. I will combine this with the 90 days WILD. If I have a nice dream to write down, I won't bet it and I will wake up to write it down, then WBTB+WILD. If I just have fragments, I will try DEILD :) Wish me luck :D I have a feeling that DEIlD will work great for me!
Edit: Serenity... silent mode for all the phones / cell phones / beepers / etc... they screw you all times!!!!!!!
Thanks Serenity. I will take that in mind.

Day 8 - June 6, 2010
Success?
No.
What happened?
Boyfriend woke me up twice, which obliterated chances at DEILDing :(
I totally agree!! The problem was, it was my parents' phone that rang. They have two though (one in the computer room, above my bedroom and one in the living room). I asked the BF if he could find a way to silence the computer room phone. No sense in it ringing :(Quote:

Day 11: Nothing as well. Alarm didn't go off...

Have you tried a mantra / auto-suggestion for waking up?
Something simple like, "I will wake up after each dream." Or, "I will remember my dreams upon awakening."
Or, try drinking a glass of water (or 2), before you go to sleep. You will wake up naturally after a REM period. It won't help a DEILD, since you'll have to pee, but it might help rebuild your recall without the use / reliance on an alarm.
Oh... or try drinking a glass of apple juice before bed. Sometimes apple juice helps boost my recall. Not sure why!
Day 1
Success?:
Yes!!! :muffin:
Explanation:
Well. I remember opening my eyes and not seeing a tiny bit of light (thanks to the glasses) so I had only fragments in my mind so I decided to sacrifice them for DEILD. I fell asleep like in seconds and I was in a dream. It generated a low quality lucid dream (pretty crappy) where I would have enough control in the dream to "rewind" the dream to the beginning of it due a car accident. I would realize I was dreaming and I could go back if I messed up but I did not used lucidity like I usually do on most of my lucids. But its still a lucid and a successful DEILD. I also had a WILD just right going to be at night (I reached strong vibrations and some HH) but my fingers were hurting me (sometimes happens) and ruin it.
No time to write the dream now... Will upload at night.
Hey there! This sounds like it could be fun. I might have to get in on this. Can I still do this if there are some nights that I can't make the effort? I've been having the problem sometimes of trying to DEILD and then not being able to get back to sleep. Like last night I ended up losing an hour and a half. But I'm pretty much trying to DEILD every night as it is. I'm pretty new to lucid dreaming and I am very excited to have as many experiences as I can.
Day 12: Had to pause attempt tonight. Needed all my rest.
-CV
So I'm going to have this past Sunday be day 1 because that's when I started renewing my efforts.
Day 1: success? Not really.
Alarm: 5 hours after bed.
When the alarm went off, I focused on the back of my eyelids until I saw a portal with a gravel road behind it. I tried to reach through the portal, but I woke up.
Day 2: success? a little.
Alarm: 5 hours after bed.
I woke up naturally after a dream about 4 hours after falling asleep. I focused on my eyelids again. Then I thought I was focusing on pictures on my iPod (I was not), and that one of the pictures pulled me into a dream. I was in the basement of a fancy building where a bunch of people were getting ready for a formal event. I woke before I could stabilize.
Some point later I was awake and starting to go into SP, but my alarm pulled me out of it and I couldn't get back to sleep for another hour and a half. But I had a short lucid dream after that. Couldn't remember if it was a WILD or DILD or what.
Day 3:no success
alarm: none set
Woke up naturally a couple of times and tried to DEILD, but just too tired. Even though one dream I woke up because I RC'd and realized I was dreaming.
Set
I've paused my attempts on Monday and today, as well. Monday, I only had 3.5 hours of sleep. Today, I had 11 hours (I know, WTF?), but I needed the catch up.
