Aright, like I agree with what you say about our problems and all, but seriously - ok, I believe a lot of it all comes down to the lack of respect for other people's beliefs. Let's just leave it at that ;)

'Lack of respect' is in a way the reason for every organised war. Hilter had 'lack of respect' for jews (because 'they were inferior'). Osama Bin Laden has a 'Lack of respect' for western society.
Religion makes the chance larger for people to 'lack respect' for other (and their religions), and it also katalyses it's reaction. Few atheists kill or die for their 'belief', however people in ireland have waged a civil war just for minor religious differences (protestant-katholic).
Religion doesn't really 'create' lack of respect, however it does 'spark' it and multiplies it. It is just another huge segregating factor.

And about the killing, if they have to do it for their religion, then that religion is bad. The person wasn't born a killing machine, they were brainwashed by the religion. But the base of that religion had to come from the lack of respect of other people's beliefs.[/b]
Can you honestly say there is a [/b]SINGLE religion that doesn't have a murder commited in it's name?
Thanks for agreeing that every religion is bad, or at some point at some place has been or is.

I don't find anything wrong with people believing in Buddah, Allah, "super life energy" - that's what I meant that is was ok to believe in something like that until it is disproven, because, they do not concern me in any way. But with the terrorists, their beliefs do concern me, I wasn't referring to those beliefs. Maybe I was a bit vague, and sorry if I was.[/b]
No problem. But you seem to be biased a bit. "Terrorist religon'? You mean islam? I quite often see some muslims walked around my town, and I have never been blown up by them. The islam as a religion isn't more voilent or anything. However the culture it is entangled with in countries like pakistan causes it to do much grief. However not as much grief as the crucades and the spanish inqusition.
And really, if people would still take the bible by word, I would be stoned to death every day and life would be hell.
And for believing in 'super engery' and such... hard point. I am fine with personal religion, people that have their own theories, as long at it stays a theory in their mind. The problem I have with religions is people claiming things to be undisputably wrong, even when they don't really know their sources.

And another thing I would like point out: Debating is fine as long as it doesn't offend other people. I was offended by that post. He could of easily made his point without calling people idiots, freaks, as well bodly stating that we are psycopaths suffering dillusions. And "lol tool" - wtf is that?! But maybe he's still just a maturing adolescent who doesn't know any better. Maybe now that I look at it, it could have just been a sarcastic way of getting his point across, but there is a fine line in something like this of when it is proper to use such sarcasm. But again, with his reply of "lol tool" I don't know if it was sarcasm or not.
Anyway, I'm off to class, so I guess I'm done here :)

Did I say 'lol tool'?
Anyhow, debating is great. Only why should some topics be taboo? Why should I be able to call republicans retards without getting any 'oh I am offences', just counter-argument, yet if I say Christians are retards I often get 'Oh I am offended', 'You should respect relgion' (thus not debate about it).
Taboo's , often brought by religion, never are good for interlectual debate. Religion Should be open to critisism, something that in classrooms and pubs isn't allways accepted.
