Naming Inanimate Objects

who here likes to name their stuff

I didn't name my very first computer in 1997 anything but my second computer in 2001 was named "gregory" because it looked like a gregory... also that's what its name was in the network... even though I didn't have a network

My third computer in 2003 (my first computer that was really MINE) was named "maya" because I loved that program

My fourth computer in (a laptop, broke months later) was named wanda because it was really old (made in 1997, bought from friend for 65 bucks in 2005, later found out that when his dad bought it it was $5000 even though it was junk)

My fifth computer from 2005 is now named mildred

My sidekick is named "brick" because thats what it basically is... a big brick

My computer is named "DUDE" :banana:
And i named my guitar "Damien"
My cell phone is named "Brick" cuz it's tooo big! :lol:

I named my old computer Elvis. Then he rocked himself out too hard and overheated several pieces of expensive hardware inside. I think he didn't like the name. So this new one's called Eliza.

i dont really name anything i own i give them titles like my car is "the shadow" cus its a dodge shadow
and my computer is "the box" and my i pod is "the steve"
although i did have a coke can that i called betty

my computer used to be called "El Compo" but I've replaced so many components that it oughtta be called "Frankencompo" by now.
I once had a pipe which I named "Darkstone," but it died a horrible death and I've not yet been able to love another :(

ah yes there is always the big deal of naming a pipe or bong! (half-baked anyone?)

one bong we had was named Egbert's Gift Shop...can you guess how it got thatt name?

My iPod's name is Joe.
You plug it in, and in my computer it says "Joe" It's great.

I think my brother named his PSP Larry.

My old car (a saturn) was named "Scaturn." :rallysmile:

When I was a kid and got my first radio/cassette player, I named it Max. Why? No idea.

I don't think I've ever named anything. Not a car, not a computer, not a piece, nothing. No wait, I did name my dog.

But a dog's not an inanimate object :D

I just decided to name my guitar Lucifer Sam.
My cell phone is Anorexia. (Razr)
My computer is Special Fred. (From a Stephen Lynch comedy song, it's a bit.. slow. When playing oblivion, anyway.)
My airsoft gun is named whoreface. :D
My iPod is Wadsworth.
Also, this one time I was in a hotel, housekeeping left the towels folded up to look like animals on the beds. Once it was a seal, and I named him Henry. I kept him intact. Anyone who needed a towel would just have to stay wet, damnit! Nobody touches Henry!

I also had to add, I named my first car Bitch, because it was a bitch on gas.

It was an old, ugly, rusty Chevy Malibu that I bought off my aunt for $175. She said it was easy on gas but the last time she drove it was years ago. I got it and it sucked my funds dry all the time. My brother ended up running Bitch in the ditch. Brought her back, grill all smashed out. So I gassed her up one last time and drove her to the junkyard. Sold her for 100 bux.

Patted her on the trunk as we left and said, "So long Bitch, it was hell knowin' ya."
My sister joked that I'd wake up the next morning to find Bitch sitting in my driveway all fixed up, like Steven King's Christine.

I half expected her to be out there the next morning too... :sheepishgrin:

Whoa crap Fresh... that's a whole lot a names... but then again, I need a name for my pc now. I immediately know whenever I'm near an oblivion gate because FPS goes down to about 0.3. I think I'm going to name my PC after the political party that's in power in my country at the moment...

our office machines are
Rose
Violet
Lily
Heather
Ivy
Daisy
Blossom

but that's only cause they need names for networking
don't tend to name personal stuff, to be honest

That reminds me of the movie Gone in 60 Seconds where they name all the cars girl names.

not just girls names
but floral girls names

Might I ask why you named it that?

Today I just named my car Liza, and if you know anything about Russian literature, then you would have an idea of what my car is like :P

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Liza is a fairly common name associated with a girl/woman who lives a sad life or suffers a tragedy. Unfortunately since I have limited funds (and my parents have their own cars)... and it's not my car anyway, I have neglected caring for it. The oil is leaking and the transmission needs a tune-up, and the CD player starts skipping when you get about half-way through a CD, depending on how hot it is. Sometimes it's earlier.

Ergo: Liza.

I named my computer Nanaki, and sometimes refer to it as the beast because it's pretty zippy. I've just got to change out the BIOS chip that had a flash go bad.
