I believe they can't ban... :hrm: This is a good question actually.
DGs have mod powers in specific forums.
Lucid dreaming forums to be precise, I believe.
Yeah, we have powers in the Dream related forums only and its only related to forum posts. Our powers over users are limited. ('cept in chat! :boogie:)
We can do something to a thread as long as its in a dream forum, so we can move threads out of dream forums yes, but not back in.
DGs can also delete posts and threads throughout the forum. The idea is that their focus is more in the dreaming forums, and their role is more along the lines of being the "face" of the staff.
More importantly, though, they can request any moderator or administrative action they want and it will be done for them in a heartbeat, no questions asked - and they don't even have to take the blame for it.
In my humble opinion, the DGs have by far the most important job here. They are the real personality of Dream Views.
Aw shucks Peej
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside! :content:
Thanks pj!
Pfft, you're just jealous Squall! Don't dump on our positive reinforcement!
Well if what they ask will be done right away then why not just give them the power to do it themselves? (Ah, I feel like there is an obvious answer to this question... but it is late... and I'm tired.. )
Because if NeAvO suddenly went mad with power and started banning everyone with over 500 posts, DV would be screwed :D. Just kidding NeAvO, please don't have me banned again :cheeky:
The staff probably just wants to have a smaller number of people who have ultimate authority over the forum. But I'm not sure, pj will probably post the real answer :D
We want the DGs first and foremost to concentrate on helping make people feel welcome and at home here. That's a huge calling, considering the size of this community, the number of newbies coming in all the time and the kinds of questions that arise from as interesting a subject as Lucid Dreaming.
Saddling the DGs with a lot of the technical side of things or the responsibility that goes with all that really doesn't serve the Dream Guide role very well. The Dream Guides are our ambassadors, not our police force or custodial crew.
I hope that helps!
Sound like?
Just Kidding!!
All these staff members posting in one thread is making me nervous.... IT'S A SIGN OF THE APOCOLYPSE!!!
They're all out to get me!
ExoByte appears behind Webmaster
Whoever moved this just decreased my post count by about 15.
I TOLD YOU THEY WERE OUT TO GET ME
Oh good! :D These days I'm finding it increasingly difficult to keep from going senseless. I should get a doctor's appointment. Look, a squirrel.
*Cymek stretches his fingers and prepares his hacking skills for the greatest war ever waged between staff and members.*
/me uses Exo's banhammer to pummel Cymek, payment please :D?
That should be interesting...
Let's post recruitment threads :D
Dream Guides don't have ban hammers! That means that Exo stole it from someone else . Possession of stolen property, Spartiate? Whack yourself with the ban hammer.
Its the chat banhammer. DUH! And Spartiate needs to give that back!
