Hey all, :panic:
I am curious to know if you guys/girls have any unique, and/or strange techniques that you use to fall asleep quickly. Do you have a breathing technique? do you tire your body out somehow? do you have a certain position that you get your body into that helps you fall asleep fast?
Forget about the obvious warm milk, no caffeine, sleep at same time etc.
Please post, so others can read over these techniques and try them out for themselves.

Mostly i count around 45 minutes - 1 hour time for falling asleep... but when i'm stressed or i think about a lot of things i can't fall asleep for more than an hour..
On a good night, it's the 16-30mins one.
I can't fall asleep on my back. Ever. No matter how tired I am, it's something that just won't happen. My thoughts are too dominant, so I'll always allow myself 15 mins to kind of think about everything, random to serious, then lie on my side and fall asleep in about 10 mins.
I can never get to sleep on my back, but will often roll onto my back when briefly waking during the night. I tend to swap sides quite a lot, though.
Generally it takes me around 10 minutes (or less) to get to sleep as due to a flexible schedule I try to stay up until I'm tired enough. Napping for too long tends to be my biggest obstacle to getting to sleep.
I used to have terrible issues getting to sleep, these days though I find I can get to sleep within 5 minutes of laying my head on the pillow. Maybe less if I read before bed.

Keep busy during the day and avoid stress. Get good at things you enjoy and do it a lot. Lay down in quiet with shades over the windows, clean bedsheets fluffy pillows.
Staying away from TV and the computer for at least 30 minutes before bed as well as gradually reducing light with a dimmer switch during this time. Eating and drinking stuff that doesn't keep me awake and helps induce sleep. Stretching out/massaging muscles, particularly the most tense ones like the jaw, feet and shoulders and sleeping with the window open because fresh air helps.Quote:

Placing your toes against a wall and leaning forward gives a good stretch, as well as just massaging the individual muscles in the soles of your feet.Quote:

As for jaw, the best thing to do is massage your masseter muscles, it's the meaty big bit on the side of your jaw, in front of and slightly below your ear. Press firmly and get all the tension out. Usually exhaustion by default, sleep is very voluntarily difficult for me, even the slightest sound or light wakes me up sometimes. On average it takes me a good half-hour to an hour to fall asleep, sometime more.
It's important for me, rather for everyone, to fall asleep as soon as I get to bed. But, it doesn't happen always due to stress and pressure of our lives. I go for yoga therapy regularly. It helps me a lot in getting sleep quickly at night.
Yoga! After doing 40 minutes of vinyasa yoga, I fall asleep almost instantly on my bed, and I've even slept on my yoga mat because I've found it to be so relaxing... :cheeky:Quote:
