Sleep Deprivation and animals
A very unique thought occured to me today. I started to wonder if animals tried to ever stay awake on purpose. Other thoughts included were the longest time a given animal has gone without sleep. I personally dont have aby pets but my brother has a guinea pig that sleeps with his eyes open (still counts as sleep). As far as I'm concerned I have never heard of any animal that suffered sleep deprivation or experienced extreme tiredness from staying up days after days after days. I thought I'd post this to see if anyone has any extra Information about this because I could not find many things. Usually we ALWAYS think about what happens when we stay awake for so long but what if it was tested with animals? Maybe certain behaviors would change in our cats or dogs. Maybe a way to test this would be to place your pet in a separate room as you with something that went off every 10 minutes and was extremely loud (plus would need an auto snooze setting). This subject fascinates me, let me know what you guys think! Also I am not talking about extreme sleep deprivation because i read an article about tests on rats who did die from that.
