Yet another Everyman Schedule
Hello together.
Since I heard about the Everyman Schedule, I've been fascinated by it. I have a very intense semester at University coming up, so successfully establishing an Everyman-2 schedule would really help me. I am creating this thread mainly to record how I'm faring while trying to establish the schedule, but thoughts and any advice is very welcome.
First of all, any thoughts on if my planned schedule would work at all? It would look like so:
Mondays: Core sleep: 1AM - 5:30AM. Nap 1: 4PM - 4:20PM. Nap 2: 7PM - 7:20PM.
Tuesdays: This is a tricky day. I have University literally all day from 8AM to 9PM. So... Core: 12PM - 4:30AM. Nap: 6AM - 6:20AM.
Wednesdays - Fridays: Like Mondays.
Saturdays and Sundays: Core: ~2AM - 6:30AM. Nap 1: 9AM - 9:20AM. Nap 2: 11:30 - 11:50AM.
Notes: I'm not sure about my regular core sleep. It is possible that I can shift it from around ~12PM - 4:30AM. I'm going to bed anywhere around 12PM - 1AM normally. Is it bad if I have a lot of variation there? Or is the one hour variation not that bad?
Also Tuesdays is very tricky. I can only manage to squeeze a single nap in. Would doing a longer nap (say 30 - 45 minutes) help? Alternatively I could do a second nap on the train back from University at ~09:09PM until 09:45PM.
Saturdays and Sundays my two naps are both in the morning / near noon. Is that bad? Should I have a regular time (say 3, 4 or 5 hours) between naps?
Any thoughts on that planned schedule are welcome.
So now for my first day, which is today. I will edit this post later today / tomorrow morning for results on my first core sleep.
Day 1 (We, 04/07):
First some notes on my last days. Yesterday University started, and I didn't have a lot of sleep the night before. As far as I remember, I went to bed at around 2AM and needed to get up at 5:30AM (which I managed to do). I wasn't too exhausted that day (except for my second lecture from 10-12).
Yesterday, I went to bed at ~11:15PM but I was woken up at 12:40AM by my girlfriend. I went over to her place until around 2AM, went to sleep around 2:15 - 2:30AM. Since I was so tired, I skipped University today, got up at 9AM and studied at home. I was feeling pretty relaxed, but now in the late afternoon, I'm starting to feel the tiredness.
Nap 1 (4:25PM - 4:45PM):
I lay in bed, but didn't manage to fall asleep. Might be because I had ambient music playing, which kind of distracted me (not used to sleeping with music). I will turn it off on my second nap. I did have a very short dream-like sequence (perhaps 1-2 minutes), where I saw an imagery of a videogame (STALKER for everyone who's interested) before my eyes, I didn't really sleep though. It is now 5:20PM and my second nap is planned for 7PM - 7:20PM. I'm having two cops of coffee right now, but since I've been drinking a lot of it regularly for around three years now, it shouldn't affect my second nap. I do actually feel refreshed by the "nap", although I didn't actually sleep.
Nap 2 (7:00PM - 7:20PM):
Failure. I couldn't sleep again, and I don't feel refreshed at all, unlike the first nap. No drowzing off and seeing dream-images either. My legs and back hurt a little, but that's probably because I went running this morning (not used doing sports anymore). Before the nap I thought I could fall asleep because I was a little tired, but no. Perhaps I shouldn't have drunk the coffee. Anyway, I'll eat dinner now and go to bed around 12PM - 1AM and try to get 4.5 hours of sleep. I hope I won't oversleep since I have to take the train to work at 7AM tomorrow morning.
Small correction: It is now 7:50PM and I'm feeling pretty normal again. I should probably wait 30-60 minutes before noting down any results on naps/core sleep for a more rational view on it.
Core sleep (12:30AM - 05:05AM):
I was expecting to be going to bed at around 11PM actually, so I was a little pissed I could only go to sleep at the time that I did. Anyway, I woke up naturally shortly before my alarm. In my sleepiness, I decided to deactivate it and sleep until 05:30AM. I forgot about my secondary alarm (my DS) though, so I woke up at 05:05 (My DS is placed on my desk, halfway across the room, so I have to walk over there and switch it off), since I decided I'd just stay awake now. Not really motivated to do anything with my additional thirty minutes (normally I wake up at 05:30), and I feel pretty tired, but not overly different from waking up early from monophasic sleep. We'll see how work goes today..
