What am I doing wrong?
So this morning i had nothing going on so i decided to try WILD method of lucid dreaming. I got 8 or so hours of sleep proior, then read some lucid dreaming stuff to get me in the right place of thinking. I then layed down and just told myself to relax deeper, and deeper, etc. Then i started counting my breaths and noticed i couldn't move (sleep paralysis?) I cleared my mind so I wasnt expecting anything and just sort of stayed in that position for a while.. Then suddenly i saw this flashing light, my heart started racing and i repeated to myself "stay calm" countless times. the flashing went away and nothing happend. I waited a little while longer and this time i saw a spiral on the right side of my vision and my eyes started twitching and eventually i just woke up out of nowhere.. I have yet to have a lucid dream if that has anything to do with it, but i have been trying MILD for a good 2 weeks and nothing really happend.. Can someone tell me what im doing wrong? Any help would greatly appreciated, Thanksss! :)

Most people who WILD wake up after 4 to 6 hours of sleep, but it differs for everyone; 8 hours is generally considered a full night of sleep, so you may have been trying this a little late.
Also, your heart should not start racing, and I know this is easier said than done, but expect something strange to happen so you won't be as surprised. When you do start seeing images, try your best to ignore them and stay in a relaxed state. Maybe even visualize something else. From my experiences, how well you do this determines whether you go into a lucid or not.

When you were repeating the stay calm were you thinking it or saying it? If you were saying it you ruined it because you broke the paralysis

Yeah, not sure if that was clear, but you have to remain still; even your eyes should be shut.
