Good starting point for WILDs?

I'm pretty new to all this (about 5 days) but for a couple of years I've had this thing where I'll be lying in bed at night thinking about my day when everything will start to turn to nonsense and I get totally unrelated thoughts and images. I'll think 'Oh I'm falling asleep' and then I do.

I've been reading up on WILD and it sounds like it's better to try it after having already slep a few hours, but could my strange way of initially falling asleep be a good way of inducing a WILD at the start of the night?

I have experienced this myself throughout my life when first falling asleep. But I am not sure it is connected to WILDing. I have had about 25 WILDs so far, and none have really felt exactly like that sensation. They are sort of similar, except that in a WILD, the weird thoughts are more like I find myself in an environment or see an image and realize I am starting to dream. The thoughts I get when first falling asleep are more disjointed and nonsensical. They don't feel as stable. But it is kind of similar to a WILD.

The thoughts and images you are getting are probably hypnagogic imagery, something you will experience with WILDing normally.

As for attempting WILD after a few hours of sleep this is so that you will go into a dream during a REM cycle, the part of the sleep cycle were you will have long and more vivid dream. People have had success WILDing before sleep like you are asking about, the only problem is that these dream will be short and not as engaging.

Hmm might be worth a try while I'm learning then just to figure out what works.
