I have trouble getting out of bed in the first place to do my WBTB. Nor am I awake enough to DEILD. I roll a couple of times and then fall unconscious. I've had this trouble after sleeping more than 12 hours. I can't seem to get out of bed with my alarms.
Any tips for getting out of bed short of rigging something to dump snakes on me in the morning?
Drink lots of water or liquids before bed and don't go to the bathroom so when you wake up, you will have to go to the bathroom. The will force you to get up and go unless you want to wet your pants. If you can, try to do it with the lights off so you don't wake yourself up to fast.
I've woken up and needed to go to the bathroom, and then laid in bed for another hour until I finally decided to get up. >.<
If you really want to get up, then put a really loud alarm clock under your bed so when it goes off, you will have to get up, go under your bed, and turn it off.
Then I climb back into bed and stay there for another hour.Quote:

It takes practice to achieve the right balance. Keep practicing.
Sometimes it is easier to wake without an alarm clock. It sounds counter intuitive. When you wake yourself up, you naturally do so at the right time in your sleep cycle. As you are falling asleep at night, tell yourself you will wake up after every dream.
I have tried to wake myself up by, before going to sleep, telling myself repeatedly that I will wake up at a certain time while visualizing that particular time in a variety of formats (four in the morning, 4am, 4 o'clock in the morning, etc) and I did it subliminal message style (like, flashing it in front of my eyes randomly) and I've woken up in the middle of the night every single time. Curious thing, the brain is.
I might experiment with waking up sans clock, but for now I want to try to WILD successfully once and then start exploring more lucid dreaming things. Next morning I'm going to try toning the juice down and just stay in my room.
I came to this thread with a laugh, because this is totally the story of my life. I hate mornings, and hate waking up. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE. I can have something I REALLY want to do the next morning, or have to, like school or work. It makes no difference. I can be all excited about it the night before, and it won't matter. When I wake up in the morning, nothing is more important to me in the world than laying in bed. To me, it has nothing to do with motivation. This was my biggest worry when getting interested in lucid dreaming, that I wouldn't be able to wake myself up. However, I've only been doing this for a couple days and I've had no trouble at all so far, but I think it might be because it's still new, so I'm still really excited about it, so that gets me out of bed. But I'm worried that after days or weeks with no concrete results, my morning mind will say "Why should I torture myself like this when I'm probably not going to accomplish anything?" even when I know I'll be kicking myself for the rest of the day for not trying.

But like I said, if you need to get out of the bed and move around and you have difficulty (not all the simple techniques work for everyone) then get creative, try some reverse ideas on yourself.
I think the drinking after I wake up works fairly well for me. I've had one DILD, so I hope my experience in realizing nothing is real will help me do more LD's.
