SP - Sleep Walking
I have a question about sleep walking. A guide told me that SP won't occur if you suffer from sleep walking and since no-one in my famiyl has ever sleep walked I began wondering if suffering from sleep walking is actually if you ever experience it.
I think I have only sleep walked once throughout 2011 and began wondering if that is normal and I shouldn't be worrying about getting to SP.
I suppose what I am asking is that does suffering from sleep waking mean you constantly have it and since I rarely have it, I should be ok when reaching SP and I dont suffer from this and have nothing to worry about.
Also, has most people experience Sleep walking? Because no-one in my family ever has except me which is why it got me wondering that my someone suffering from sleep walking is just someone who has ever experienced it.
Thanks

Sleep paralysis is sometimes called REM atonia, literally a lack of muscle tone (paralysis) during rapid eye movement sleep (the sleep in which we dream), sleep paralysis is designed exactly to prvent you from getting up and acting out your dreams for real. Sleep walking on the other hand is a sleep phenomenon associated with Non-REM (unconscious, physically restorative) sleep. By definition if you WILD and are successful you will not sleep walk, as your are paralysed. If you fall into unconscious sleep there's a chance of you sleep walking if you have a history of it, but no more chance than you have on any other night that you sleep. WILDing won't cause sleep walking.
Hope that was helpful :)

Thanks, I wasn't worred about WILDing causing it. I am asking that I will still we able to get to SP and WILD because I have sleep walked rarely in the past and the guide I read say you have SP unless you suffer from Sleep Walking and I was wondering what that classified as. Whether if you ever experience it or if its on a regular basis.
Since I had 1 experience of sleep walking in 2011, I dont suffer and should reach SP and WILD easily?

Sorry to say the guide you read was probably misinformed if it stated that sleep walking prevented sleep paralysis, if that were the case then sufferers would most likely have nights where they never stopped crashing around their room
The good news is there are plenty of great guides here on Dreamviews, it's really up to what you think suits you which one you go for (though I would recommend this, WILD - The Guide To End All Guides - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views, as a good starting point).
As for whether you'll reach SP easily, well that's a different question entirely. My advice would be not to set SP as a milestone to aim for, instead aim for entering a dream, if you get stressed about reaching sleep paralysis you'll be stressed and tensed up and it won't happen.
If you've only had one case of sleep walking in 2011 maybe it was an isolated case? Either way you could see your doctor about the sleep walking and describe what you're trying to do with lucid dreaming?
Good luck with your lucid dreaming journey!

Would you consider around 10 - 12 sleep walks in 16 years normal or ok?
