Has this ever happended to you?

So Im trying to master the WBTB + WILD / FILD Technique. Altough theres been a problem lately.


I have a WBTB Alarm which I put like 2 Meters from my Bed. So that I have to stand up and turn it off with a Shake of the Phone. But somehow last night, I turned it off without having any Memory of doing that. My App even shows me a Notification if it turns off automatically after 10 Minutes. And there was no Notification.

Theres 3 Options on what happended.

- Either my Alarm glitched and it just didnt play (but I use the same App for my normal Wake-up and that worked).

- I sleepwalked and turned it off.
or
- I just don't remember it.


Has this ever happended to you and if so, what advice could you give me?

I think you just don't remember. It often happens to me that I remember things later in the day that I did at night that I totally didn't remember in the morning. And at rare occasions I also did something at night that my parents noticed (such as treating diabetic hypoglycemia in the middle of the night) that I never remembered myself.

What you could do I'm not sure. Maybe you even did WBTB entirely like you planned without remembering it. Just try again, and see if it happens again, otherwise I don't know any advice. I think it won't happen again and solve itself.

I also think you just didn't remember shutting it off.

It's a fairly common thing: Since your action occurred when you were mostly asleep, you probably just went about the business of turning the alarm off without remembering why it needed to be on in the first place, and the event wasn't recorded in your memory.

A possible solution to this might be setting an intention at night that you will wake up enough to do a WBTB next time you hear the alarm.

Another solution, and one I personally like better, is to do your WBTB without an alarm. You tend to awaken several times during the night, whether you know it or not (like your trip to the alarm, these awakenings aren't usually stored in memory), and these awakenings happen more often after several hours' sleep. So, with a little practice, and maybe a little intention-setting, you can learn to get up without an alarm. This in my mind is a better course anyway, since alarms -- when they work ;) -- tend to waken you too much, and make maintaining a dreamy state of mind during WBTB and getting back to sleep a little harder.

The only problem I have found with that is I awaken at the end of a REM period (as many of us do as micro-awakenings), so getting immediately back into REM just doesn't happen. The next REM period is then about an hour away.
