Not getting anywhere
First off, I'm sorry for my stupid questions but if I didn't have a burning desire to know more and to improve I wouldn't ask them and this desire is really strong :P
I have been trying to WILD for a while and what I have got is feeling feeling numb and it kind of feels like I wouldn't be able to move my muscles but I can quite easily (this is not SP)
I also have spontaneous twitches.
I can seemingly flying downwards and in other directions but mostly downwards while in my bed. These instances appear to be mostly from my own willpower/imagination but it doesn't always come when I want it to.
I have pretty much no HI except from an image after about 450 -- I'm dreaming things which seem to take roughly 5 seconds each but once I get a couple of these (which are widely spaced out) it just disappears and I seem to be right where I started again.
I don't even give up 5 minutes after I started, I do swallow every now and then but I don't think it would completely destroy the time that I spent on it and I can swallow while having the flying feeling and it continues. I also have a positive mind and actually think/know that I will be able to get a WILD that night. I have lay there for nearly 2 hours and nothing happens except from said things. The closest I have got to a WILD is actually falling asleep by accident while doing it and having a DILD instead :P
Are there other people who just seem to get stuck like me and if there is, is there any way to get past this or something? I would try DILDS but they don't seem to be quite what I want.

Important question before we move on: how long is "a while"? ;)
-
Heh, I knew somebody would ask me this, hmm, a month and a halfish? However, nearly everybody else/everybody else seems to at least of entered SP by a couple of weeks on and off trying but I've been trying nearly every night (taking breaks when I do need them) and I'm just wondering if there is something that could be stopping me. As it seems unusual not to have even entered SP and it doesn't seem like I'm that close either. I am stressing a bit but the stress only really occurs when I'm doing it/there and doesn't affect me later on in the day.

I am pretty much on the same page as you are. I twitch kind of violently after awhile sometimes. When I am trying to WILD, I go into little mini dreams (thats the only way I can explain it. Is this HI?)
Dying Dignity, are you trying to WILD during WBTB or just when you go to sleep at night?
-
During WBTB - I sleep around 5 and a half hours but I think that I should reduce the time and get a bit more tired because once I'm awake for a while I can't get back to sleep.
I think those mini dreams are HI but as you can see, I'm not very experienced with this myself.
How violent are those twitches? :P
-
It's a sudden jolt or muscle spasm, isolated usually. My girlfriend gets these alot. She usually falls asleep before for I do and I used to tease her about the twitches before I tried WILD'ing. She told me that it's a biological response to when your body first goes into SP sometimes because sometimes your mind thinks you body is dying.
-
Hmm, mine are weak, as if you were about to move your hand to grab something but as soon as you move your hand you change your mind and stop suddenly.
I'm going to sleep anyway and hopefully something will happen later. Night :)
Edit - And I was too tired and fell asleep :P - I should be around just right tonight though.
-
Could it possibly be that I am too awake or that I lay on my back really straight? I can't fall asleep normally like this so I'm wondering whether it would prevent a WILD or not.
-
The muscle spasms are pretty normal. If they're strong enough to jolt you completely awake, there's nothing you can do about it. Just get comfortable and relax again.
WILDs can take a while to learn, so don't be too frustrated. Getting the first WILDs can often depend on luck, so some people will get their first WILD really early while others will take a while.
While it is good to be in a different position than you sleep in, you still want to be in a position you CAN sleep in. If you never fall asleep, you never WILD! The point of having a different position is to get you into a lighter sleep, so you don't just black out too quickly. ;)
-
I just have to be awkward enough to have both arms underneath my pillow with my head resting on it and laying half on my chest and half on my side when I normally sleep xD
There is another position that I can fall asleep in that isn't completely stupid for WILDs so I'll try that one and all should be good hopefully :D
Thanks a lot for your help Naiya it's greatly appreciated. :)

I normaly sleep on my side for WILDs. But sleeping on my back usually helps since I don't normally sleep on my back. I'm just very lazy nowadays and don't want to take a long time to WILD. I have a lot of DILDs so I only WILD a few times a week now. :P

You need to get yourself super crazy relaxed. Beyond any relaxation you've ever felt before. When you think you are relaxed, go even further. That would be my advice. You can't just lie there and expect to be launched into a dream. You have to get yourself into a trance-like state, where you are just on the edge of sleep. You want to be in that zone where you are nodding off and just barely catching yourself before you totally lose it to sleep.
What are you thinking about when you are lying there? What do you normally think about when you fall asleep at night?
When I absolutely can't get myself relaxed enough to WILD, I use something like reverse blinking. I close my eyes and breathe normally, counting each breath on the exhale. As I count, I blink my eyes open and closed quickly. Just like normal blinking, only in reverse. I don't look at anything in the room, just blink. For some reason, this puts me to sleep or puts me into a trance faster than anything I have ever tried. If that doesn't work for you, do an internet search for different meditation techniques. Anything with some rhythm and relaxation should work.
You can also try to reduce the length of your WBTB, or move it to a different time in the night. I would definitely move it to a different time in the night, no matter what. That might solve your problem on its own.
-
I can be a witness that reversed blinking is wonderfully effective. Entrances you really fast. Before you know it you're gone.
-
Hmm, do you do the reverse blinking from starting the WILD untill your in the dream then? I might try that as well. It sounds... Interesting :P

I do it to help me get further into a trance state, or closer to sleep. Whichever I'm aiming for. I will normally intersperse it with some visualization and tactile induction type stuff.
