forum index page

i'm kind of thinking it'd be nice to do something to the forum's index page to jazz it up a bit, but i'm just not sure what. i want to get this place to look more unique because to me it still looks too much like a generic phpBB forum. i don't really want to go so far as to change the whole theme though because i simply haven't the time right now. anyway, i was checking out http://www.planetsoulnetwork.com/forum/index.php (somehow i stumbled upon them when looking for the little icons i've been placing on the index page) and i like what they've done to encapsulate the forum listings and the "who is online" table (i.e. the cell headers that look kind of like a file folder, holding the "Forum," "Topics," "Posts," and "Last Post" titles in the forum listings). We'd need something a different colour of course, and I really don't know for sure if it would work well here or not...again, I'd just like to get something different on the index page. I also like their table header cell backgrounds on their other pages, and wonder if with a slightly different colour they could replace the ones we have. anyway, if anyone is bored sometime, feel free to experiment! i'll probably end up playing around with it at some point if no one else does.

haha...awesome. if in fact you feel you theme changes are needed (i.e. cell background colours, text colour, whatever) for it to work out, that's fine...if i haven't the time now to propagate them throughout the forum, i can at least adjust the index page to use them. anyway, no rush of course cuz we're all pretty busy. thanks!
