      richard wawro

i am not naturally gifted with the ability to create visual art, and have never put in time to learn. but that just makes me appreciate those who can all the more.

and i appreciate few artists more than this man, http://www.wawro.net/biography.html
he is an idiot savant who creates stunning works of art using only crayons :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

"He uses no models for his drawings, but draws from images seen only once, on television or in a book at one of the bookshops he loves to visit. He has perfect recall but often adds his own touches, interpretations or improvisation to the images. He seems especially fascinated, and facile, with light-its sources and its dispersion-and the tones he uses to capture lights and shadows are masterful. "

his gallery can be found http://www.wawro.net/gallery_home.html

just had to share it. i know some will appreciate his pieces..

*laughs* if they were paintings i wouldn't be very impressed either...that's usually not the type of images i find interesting.

      but he uses fuckin CRAYONS!!

the ones that blow my mind the most are in the second and third gallery, where he catches combinations of light and water incredibly.

      Thank you beautiful!

I was actually trying to coordinate it, so that my 1,000th post fell on my 1 year anniversary (Feb. 18th). Oh well, that's what I get for being a post whore. ~

hes autistic (y'know, "rainman" style). as in he used to walk around in circles for great lengths of time, or hit the same piano key thousands of times in a row.

in kindergarten his teacher noticed his unusual talent, and that's the only medium he's used since...basically his obsessive tendencies were channeled into drawing with crayons.

he draws all his pictures from memory as well, even after only seeing them once on tv, or in a book. which makes it doubly impressive...

Ah, often autistic people are genious people. Becouse their brain is a bit weird, some things are differnt so they kick ass in them. Like the autistic people that can name prime-numbers without a computer. Or like artists. Or autistic people that can break incredably hard codes.

i was investigating the possibility that idiot savants can utilize information that they have never been existentially exposed to. the possibility that information exists in a sort of akashic ether accessible to the unfiltered.

some savants possess extraordinary skills, which are found in the fields of numerical calculation, music, and art.

i was (and still am) curious as to whether these 'fields' of knowledge are 'floating in the air' so to speak. and idiot savants are just particularly open to particular subset of a particular field/frequency.

never found anything conclusive either way, but came across interesting people like richard wawro.

Not my personal style but I definitely see what you mean about the water and light. That's pretty amazing for crayons.
