      a TRUE artist

Ok, I think that we can all agree, as artists, that a TRUE artist can create an extraordinary piece with the most limited amount of tools ...... do you agree? If so, I challenge a true artist to create something with the most simple of any drawing programs. Anyone can participate in this challenge if you have windows because the program that is to be used in this challenge is MS-Paint.
This is a piece that I created with MS-Paint (the bike and helmet itself). The background was done with photoshop. If you want to use photoshop to make a background, fine. But the actual focus of the piece must be done in MS-Paint. Anyone up for the challenge

mmmm...I think you have to buy AppleWorks. I don't see any download options for it. If I still feel like doing it I may just use MS Paint on my crappy PC.

No, I don't agree. What you have there is just pixel art. You don't have to have "limited tools" to be a "true" artist. That is just silly.

i think the words true art and and digital are mutally incompatible

even though it's hersay Ill play ms paint comps are fun

so we set the background res and image any way we want, then do the ms paint thing over the top right?

[quote]i think the words true art and and digital are mutally incompatible/quote]

I doubt you've ever seen good digital art. Because it uses a computer, you automatically assume it is very easy and the computer does most of the work. If you go take a picture and add a photoshop filter to it, or add a couple of mountains to a terragen image and render it, yes, you should not call it art. However, when used correctly, the digital genre of art is certainly "true" art. That is very arrogant of you to say.

Ok you guys are getting annoying. This was just a little contest that Wheelie made up and you are turning it into some god damn debate about "true art"...he NEVER said that digital art is not TRUE art.

Besides I once made an amazing painting of a tree with just some ink and a twig from that tree. I agree that a true artist can take the simplist tools and still create a masterpiece.

Either take the challenge or don't post here, right? It's not a debate.

Yeah aqua, but someone else did. Threads deviate from the main topic... it's pretty much what they're supposed to do or they get boring.

Ok wasap, I never said that a True artist ALWAYS has limited tools.... i said , just like nina reiterated, that a True artist can work with the most limited amount of tools and create an extraordinary piece .... OH and BTW if you think pixel art isnt a true and difficult art..... well how about the 1884 painting done by Georges Seurat called "Sunday afternoon on the island of Grand Jatte. It was created using the Pointillism technique whereby small dots of color are applied to a white background .... in the copmuter world , that Pixel art . and here is Seurats painting below.

Please go find the place where I said this. I simply stated that by using MSPaint like that, you are creating pixel art. I've seen wonderful pixel art pieces and realized that they are indeed very difficult. I never said that it isn't true. I appreciate all forms of art, and believe they are all "true" art.

Dude that is so true. I remember in culinary school, my knife skills instructor said that even though we were learning how to turn mushrooms with a pairing knife, you should be able to use ANY knife, if you have the technique down.

And he picked up his mega butcher knife and made one of these:

I can't even do it that good with the pairing knife.

[sorry I made the pictures to friggin big...all fixed now]

I "framed" this one and resized it because originally it was 100x100 pixels...

And the picture in my avatar. This is a "digital" version of one of my paintings, it's not the same exact view but a different version...
