Thread: Solid, Empty Nothing

What can I say, I was bored and decided to write about 'nothing' and just starting writing.

A swollen soul, filled to the brim,
tired of life tearing it limb from limb.

Lost in silence, perfection found.
No more lies, no longer a sound.

Was it only a dream, a wish, a belief?
Why when it's over do I only feel relief?

A taste of imperfection is bitter-sweet,
but returning to nothing is quite a feat.

(-) Empty Nothing
Well-woven web of deceit,
unravels beneath your feet.

This feeling comes on strong,
tried and true,
you knew it all along.

Double-edged sword, double-sided coin,
You think, you thought, you're better off knowing.
Tried and true,
this you knew,
but in the end,
there's only you...

Dang. That'd be some good lyrics. Very well written, but I'm not an expert in that kinda stuff.

Just don't give it to an emo band, Nothing be the next fad.

Yeah, I used to worry about that sort of thing, but I realized anyone trying to copy someone elses work ultimately doesn't have the real talent to get far enough to do anything with what they stole, anyway. If by some miracle, they actually do get somewhere then they have a lifetime to realize their lie. That, in itself, is punishment enough. Can you imagine your whole life being simply riding on someone elses coat tails. That would suck.

Kind of like what happened to Milli Vanilli, and Vanilla Ice...One of the members of Milli Vanilli died of an overdose, and Vanilla Ice suffers serious identity, and depression issues. I guess he shouldn't have borrowed from David Bowie and Queen? No amount of money can buy back the truth or change self-image.

I wonder why imposters like using contractions of the word, vanilla so much? Hell, even the movie, 'Vanilla Sky', was a rip off another 1997 Spanish film Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes)...LOL

Here's a poem I wrote the other day while thinking about sweet nothing while on acid...

Open up your mind's eye
Looked inside but nothing was there.
Turned outside but no fruit to bear.
A cold summers' frost.
A hot winters' sun.
No matter the cost,
Together as one.

Infinite brilliance of infinite thought.
Infinite questions of answers sought.
Infinite layers of infinite gray.
As the mirrors of perception fade...

The meter on that last one was perfect. I liked it a lot.

The first two were good, but the flow was choppy from the use of extra syllables, or not enough. Still, the wordplay was excellent and I got quite a bit from them. Good stuff man.
