      My figure drawings WARNING NUDES

I am trying to do more figure drawing and more drawing in general but it is hard to make myself do it you know? Sometimes I am motivated sometimes I am not

This is a FREEHAND drawing from a photograph I downloaded offline:

This is the link to the photograph, it is larger at the website: http://www.fineart.sk/show.php?w=1364

The website also has 4 or 5 of Andrew Loomis' drawing books. You have to click on thumbnail images then right click save as to your computer but it is worth it. These books are from the 1940's but still are valued. The drawings of 1940's women and men are strange to view because it is like watching an old movie, and yes, some of the text that he writes is not valid anymore since printing and illustration has changed somewhat, but the proportion, perspective, and other data and charts he has in these books are still valid.

Good shading and proportions and muscle structure. What are the two lines coming off of her head?

It was just something I did to gauge the hand height and such. Sometimes I don't erase these marks. Michelangelo sometimes did drawings and did not do any erasing at all. If he can do it, I can also :-) :-)

What would really be cool is to get more pictures like this but with guys also. I do have a few good guy poses but since they have much larger structures and I tend to exaggerate line I am thinking they'd be easier to draw and I don't have enough.

That is a beautiful rendering of a beautiful image. The muscle tone is really nicely done - great shading work and wonderful proportion.

I'd love to see more of your work.

That's really good. I like the addition of the flower, too.

      Aw, garsh folks *blush*

Actually, I sort of feel like I don't deserve a lot of praise on this one because it was so easy. I don't know why. Another I am drawing is more complex and I am using grids instead of freehanding because my freehand version was not working right.

Aww - imageshack took out your image.

Here's a nice little site for learning figure drawing:

      http://drawinglab.evansville.edu/

By the way... those little wooden artist's dolls are easy to come by. They may not be the same as live flesh, but they do a lot for getting proportion, plane, mass and shading right.

you shouldn't have to warn people about nudes..
but personally i think its tacky to keep marks like that that help you keep proportions and stuff. When looking at the picture, it makes the viewer begin to think about how the artist made it rather than the piece as a whole. at least, i think so.

There are those who might be offended. The warning is common courtesy.

As to the marks, I'm glad to see them and would really rather see more of them. While this is a lovely drawing, I see its presentation as an artist's exercise rather than a finished presentation piece, especially in context with the photograph it came from.

      Where a re they?
The human body is a marvelous wonder. Depicted artistically can be awe inspiring.
I think it is in good taste to give a subtle warning.

I think you should save them top your computer and reload them for us.
